On this World Bee Day, we celebrate these small workers that help regenerate forests and conserve biodiversity.

In the Caine River region, the Frente Roja Community Nature Reserve and El Palmar National Park, Armonía promotes sustainable beekeeping as an alternative that strengthens local livelihoods while contributing to the conservation of the Red-fronted Macaw’s habitat. ❤️🦜

The Frente Roja Community Nature Reserve has two fully camouflaged observation hides that strengthen the conservation of this critically endangered species and promote responsible ecotourism.

🌿 The program Nature’s Heartbeat will drive, over four years, the active management in Key Biodiversity Areas (KBAs) in Bolivia, beginning with the Isiboro‑Sécure and Western Mamoré River landscapes. The initiative strengthens the national network of 97 KBA sites, moving from technical recognition to conservation led directly from the territory. 🤝🌎

👥 The program prioritizes Indigenous communities and local organizations as central actors, using a Trust‑Based Funding approach that provides flexible support to protect ecosystems, reduce threats, and improve livelihoods. Implemented by an international alliance, it seeks to consolidate itself and expand to other KBA sites in the country. 🚀🇧🇴

𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗮𝗻 𝗘𝗴𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗲𝘀 🥚🦜

It all begins when a pair of Blue-throated Macaws explores a nest box…

Soon, two or three tiny, fragile eggs appear — and not all of them will survive.

Days go by… a chick hatches, completely dependent on its parents.
Then, little by little, it grows stronger and begins to feather its wings. ✨

Nearly 110 days of care and waiting pass until the most important moment arrives: the first flight. 🪽💙

This is how the story of many Blue-throated Macaws begins in the flooded savannas of Beni, northern Bolivia. Thanks to the nest box program, underway since 2005 at the Laney Rickman Reserve, 164 chicks have successfully fledged by 2025.

As native forests disappear in Bolivia, these birds lose the trees they depend on for food. This also increases conflict with local farmers.
