Spotlight on Danté Sousa, our Community Programmes Summer Student! 💙
A Youth Leadership Academy (YLA) alumnus, Danté returned to Family Centre this summer in a new role, supporting young people across our Community Programmes. His work has included supporting YLA Building My Future participants, helping YLA Foundations youth develop their Community Change Projects, assisting with job coaching and programme activities, and contributing to social media and communications.

It has been especially meaningful to see Danté make the transition from being a YLA student to working alongside the Family Centre team to help support the next generation of young people.

Danté will return to university to pursue a degree in Psychology. Family Centre is proud to celebrate all that Danté has contributed to the Community Team this summer and wish him every success in the year ahead. 💙

Riley Jackson, an academic support volunteer with Family Centre’s Youth Leadership Academy, shares how giving just a little of her time each week helps make a meaningful difference in a young person’s learning, confidence and sense of support. 💙

Drawing on her own experiences as a student, Riley now helps another young person work through academic challenges, discover what works for them and build confidence along the way.

When people talk about building a stronger community, they often think about big things like funding, policies and major programmes.
