PEULH MISSION OF BAGOU

The "Peulh Mission" in Bagou (Gogounou commune) in Benin, often associated with ecotourism, is a cultural immersion experience that allows visitors to discover the Fulani way of life. It offers authentic experiences: milking cows, making cheese, traditional decoration, and pasture management in the Alibori region, a historical area.

Located in the Alibori department, Bagou is an area with a high concentration of Fulani people, known for its history of resistance. Ecotourism activities include: immersion in a traditional camp (discovering traditions and the art of decoration); learning cow milking and local cheese production; discovering beauty secrets and grazing techniques.

Bagou has a historical link with the Baatombu Koros, where the Fulani settled to protect their livestock. These initiatives, promoted by Eco-Benin, aim to enhance local cultural heritage and generate income for the community.

The Fulani mission in Bagou runs a home for abandoned boys and girls. Approximately 35 boys and girls up to the age of 18 are cared for there.

SSPH/OCPSP OF BAGOU CENTER

The Bagou Children's Center in Benin works to protect and reintegrate orphans and vulnerable children. Managed within the framework of strengthening children's rights, this center implements standards for care and psychosocial support.

Supported by the SSPH/OCPSP structure, the center provides reception, care, and reintegration for children in difficult situations. It includes support programs for orphans, accompaniment missions, and initiatives aimed at children's well-being. It is part of the network of child protection centers in Benin, complying with applicable legal standards.

The Service of the Sisters for the Human Promotion of the Oblate Catechists Little Servants of the Poor (SSPH/OCPSP), in its humanitarian work, advocates for all actions aimed at the protection and promotion of the human person in general, and of vulnerable persons (children, people with disabilities, and the elderly) in particular.

As part of its mission to protect children's rights and well-being, the SSPH/OCPSP welcomes, cares for, and ensures the reintegration of children in difficult situations. It is also a leader in the inclusion of children with disabilities.

AL-HOUDA SOCIO-CULTURAL CENTER

The Agency of Muslims in Africa (AMA), at the behest of the late Alpha Orou, and driven by a compassionate vision and a spirit of generosity, undertook the noble mission of creating an orphanage to help underprivileged children in the city of Parakou and the surrounding areas.

The children are welcomed without religious or ethnic distinction and come from all over: Sakété, Porto-Novo, Cotonou, Kandi, Parakou, and elsewhere. However, the AMA did not limit itself to providing shelter and meals for the orphans. Recognizing that education is the key to unlocking a promising future, they decided to build a school within the center.

The primary school opened its doors during the 1998-1999 academic year with 280 students, including 74 orphans. The orphaned children are fed, housed, cared for, clothed, and receive free schooling throughout their education. The orphanage's boarding section is open only to boys. Orphaned girls receive the same care as the boys but they do not sleep at the center.

The Al-Houda Center, which covers nearly two hectares, provides
an environment conducive to the children's physical and social development. Today, the Al-Houda Center houses hundreds of orphans who are provided with free lodging, food, clothing, medical care, and education.

"SABOUYO" ORPHANAGE

The Sabouyo orphanage was established in November 2012. It is located in the Banikanni neighborhood of Parakou. Currently, it houses 25 children, 18 of whom are boarders and 07 day
students. Most of the children came to this center after their mothers died during childbirth.

The orphanage operates thanks to donations and contributions from members of the NGO GRAFEP. Faced with the current economic downturn, the orphanage is experiencing several challenges. The staff have appealed for improvements to the canteen, the installation of solar panels, tables and chairs and/or benches for the study hall, and other necessary equipment.
