Le WAPP, VRA Academy (Ghana) et NAPTIN (Nigeria) unissent leurs forces pour former des jeunes femmes à l'énergie solaire

Cotonou, le 31 août 2026 — Le West African Power Pool (WAPP) annonce la sélection, par le Fonds du Conseil International des Grands Réseaux Électriques (CIGRE) pour l'Innovation et l'Éducation, du Projet « Autonomisation des jeunes femmes par l'acquisition de compétences en énergie solaire, mini-réseaux et entrepreneuriat au service du développement durable des communautés ».

WAPP, VRA Academy (Ghana) and NAPTIN (Nigeria) Join Forces to Equip Young Women with Solar Energy Skills

Senegal’s minister of Energy and Petroleum receives a WAPP delegation in Beijing

During his visit to China, Dr. Abdourahmane DIOUF, Senegal’s Minister of Energy and Petroleum, received, on 15 August 2026 in Beijing, a delegation from the West African Power Pool (WAPP) led by its Secretary General, Mr. Abdoulaye DIA.

Retour en images sur la mission du WAPP en Chine 🇨🇳 — Du 9 au 19 août 2026, une délégation conduite par M. Abdoulaye DIA, Secrétaire Général du WAPP, a visité les installations de POWERCHINA et de SINOHYDRO dans le cadre du Projet Dorsale Nord. La mission a permis d’échanger sur l’avancement des projets, les perspectives de nouvelles infrastructures et les priorités liées à la qualité des équipements, au respect des délais, au contenu local et au transfert de compétences.

A look back at the WAPP mission to China 🇨🇳 — From 9 to 19 August 2026, a delegation led by Mr. Abdoulaye DIA, Secretary General of WAPP, visited POWERCHINA and SINOHYDRO facilities as part of the North Core Project. The mission provided an opportunity to discuss the progress of ongoing projects, prospects for new infrastructure, and key priorities related to equipment quality, timely project delivery, local content promotion, and skills transfer.

Le secrétaire général du WAPP reçu en audience par le ministre délégué chargé de la mobilisation des ressources extérieures et de la dette du Benin
Le Secrétaire Général du West African Power Pool (WAPP) M. Abdoulaye DIA, a été reçu en audience, le lundi 3 août 2026, par le Ministre délégué chargé de la Mobilisation des Ressources extérieures et de la Dette, M. Hugues Oscar LOKOSSOU.
Cette rencontre a permis au Secrétaire Général de présenter le WAPP, ses missions ainsi que son rôle dans le développement et l’intégration du secteur électrique en Afrique de l’Ouest. Il a notamment fait le point sur les avancées du Marché Régional de l’Électricité de l’Afrique de l’Ouest, en mettant l’accent sur le lancement imminent de sa Phase 2, consacrée au Marché du Jour pour le Lendemain (Day-Ahead Market).

WAPP Secretary General received in audience by Benin’s Minister Delegate for External Resource Mobilization and Debt
The Secretary General of the West African Power Pool (WAPP), Mr. Abdoulaye DIA, was received in audience on Monday, 3 August 2026, by the Minister Delegate for External Resource Mobilization and Debt, Mr. Hugues Oscar LOKOSSOU.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the Secretary General to present WAPP, its mandate, and its role in the development and integration of the electricity sector in West Africa. He also provided an update on the progress of the West African Regional Electricity Market, with particular emphasis on the imminent launch of Phase 2, dedicated to the Day-Ahead Market (DAM).

Abomey-Calavi, July 22, 2026 – The Secretary General of the West African Power Pool (WAPP), Mr Abdoulaye DIA, received a delegation from the International Institute for Water and Environmental Engineering (2iE) at the WAPP General Secretariat. The delegation was led by the Director General of 2iE, Professor El Hadji Bamba DIAW.
