NINZIZA Testimony – Medical Mission in Rukeco, Ngozi (Now in Butanyerera)

A few months later, we are still receiving testimonies from the medical mission held in February in Rukeco and Cendajuru, Ngozi Province.

Among the many who came to consult the doctors was a woman named Miburo J. from Rukeco. She came seeking medical help due to persistent stomach pain, but also because she had been unable to conceive after six years of marriage. Not having a child had become a source of daily psychological trauma—especially within the cultural context of rural villages.

An IMIF volunteer doctor received her, carried out a medical consultation, and sensed she needed more than medical care. Behind the physical pain, there was also emotional and spiritual suffering. After the medical check-up, he referred her to Pastor Morris from CAPRO Ministry, a partner of IMIF. The pastor prayed with her and shared the message of Jesus. That day, she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior and returned home filled with peace.

Before she left, Pastor Morris gave her a Bible and, by faith, said:
“Next February, you will carry a child on your back.”

And God was faithful.

In April, Mrs. Miburo called the pastor, crying tears of joy—she had just found out she was pregnant, without even knowing it. Even more incredible, her husband, Nubahabavyeyi T., also gave his life to Jesus after witnessing what God had done.

In October, the promise was fulfilled:
The family welcomed a healthy baby girl, whom they named Ninziza, which means "God is good."

We thank God not only for the miracle of life, but above all, for the gift of salvation given to this couple.
God hears. God answers. God moves in love and power.

PARTNER SPOTLIGHT: IMIF "Initiatives in Medical Intervention Fellowship"

Initiatives in Medical Intervention Fellowship (IMIF) is a nonprofit organization based out of Burundi. It was started by a young group of physicians who were eager to make a difference for others through making health care accessible. They do this through medical missions, empowering women and girls, health and nutrition assistance, and offering psycho-social support benefitting mental health needs. All of this is done with the idea that when an underserved community is properly supported, they can begin to thrive and grow.

"We all have the right to a better health. Our country has been going through several kinds of crisis (war, catastrophes,…) that have affected many fields and the economic growth. Until now, health is facing many gaps in terms of accessibility and quality.

IMIF has been aware of the importance of health in communities as a crucial component in building families and strong nation. Our mission is to valorize health in all its aspects by giving medical assistance to those in need, and the most vulnerable. We believe that once, we will be able to reach the biggest part of the population and make health a priority, not only will we respond to the third SDG goal in promoting « Good health and Wellbeing » but will embrace other goals like end poverty, zero hunger, decent work and Economic growth. We consider that where there is good health, there is wealth."

*Testimony – Gisuru Medical Camp*

I’m one of the volunteers with IMIF. Most of the time when we go on mission, we think we’re going to help others but this mission taught me so much.

During the Gisuru medical camp, I was part of the logistics team. One day, while we were busy, a woman called out to my teammate and pointed to a mother in distress behind the tents. He went to check and then called me for help. When I arrived, I saw a mother in severe abdominal pain, carrying her baby. She had come alone and could barely walk.

My teammate took the baby in his arms, and I helped the mother walk toward the doctor. Every few steps, she asked me to stop so she could rest. At that moment, I wasn’t just helping a patient, I wanted to be the sister she needed, someone to give her the warmth and support of family. We held her baby not just to help, but to reassure him: “It’s going to be okay mom will get better, you are in safe arms.”

As a mother myself, I realized how much grace it is to have someone to count on. When I’m sick, I always find someone to watch my child or accompany me. She had no one — yet she showed such courage.
I also learned that you can show love and compassion even to someone you don't know, like the woman who alerted us. She didn’t know the sick mother, but saw her pain and acted.

Let’s do good around us — small acts can save lives. And let’s value the people who stand by us. Some are praying just to have that.

A Mission of Healing, A Movement of Compassion — this is IMIF, walking in the footsteps of Jesus.

By His grace, the Lord has opened yet another door to serve the underserved — this time in Gisuru, Buhumuza, at the border with Tanzania. From October 20th to 27th, IMIF will be on the ground for a medical, surgical, and evangelical outreach, bringing not just care for the body, but hope for the soul.

We believe in healing the whole person — spirit, soul, and body — in the name of Jesus Christ.
Join us in prayer and intercession, that many may encounter the love and power of God through this mission.
