Over the past week, the Bulgarian Yachting Association (BYA) took part in two important local events in Burgas focused on the future of the Black Sea and its maritime economy.

🌊 At SPLASH Black Sea 2026, we joined discussions bringing together businesses, research organizations, public institutions and innovators around water, maritime activities and new opportunities for collaboration.

🌊 We also attended the Black Sea Stakeholder Conference 2026, where stakeholders from across the region discussed innovation, resilience, sustainable development and the future priorities of the Black Sea blue economy.

💡For BYA, these events were a valuable opportunity to connect with stakeholders beyond the yachting sector, exchange ideas and better understand the wider challenges and opportunities shaping the future of the Black Sea.

🙌🏼 We look forward to building on these connections and continuing to be part of the conversation about a stronger, more connected and sustainable Black Sea.

In September we are delighted to present to you Dilyana Staeva, BYA Member of the Month. 💎

Dilyana is the co-owner of Вистамар ООД / Vistamar Ltd - a small family company established in 1991, specialising in marine life-saving and firefighting equipment for motor vessels and buildings on land.
💫 She is one of the Association’s very first members, and we are beyond proud to share her story with you.

🚤 With two decades of experience in the maritime world, Dilyana has seen the industry evolve through the years and has been part of its journey in her own way. We hope you enjoy getting to know the person behind the experience and hearing more about what the sea and the maritime community mean to her.

A recap of last week’s Cannes Yachting Festival shared by our BYA representative Velislava Mankova 👀

“The Cannes Yachting Festival last week was the first event of this kind that I have ever attended, and I was very proud to be there representing the Bulgarian Yachting Association (BYA) 🇧🇬☺️

It was an intense few days, filled with new professional contacts, amazing yacht visits and countless conversations that made me realize how much I still have to learn about this business.
And perhaps that is the beauty of being new and curious with your job: you can ask all kinds of questions without being afraid of feeling stupid. You listen, observe and try to connect the dots, with every conversation being a lesson and teaching you something.

For me, this was a very productive and valuable visit. I had the opportunity to present the idea behind BYA to various stakeholders from across the industry, and to get their perspective on how the business is operating in Bulgaria, what are the challenges and showstoppers for us as a community and country. People were very honest with their opinions, and I very much appreciate that. I believe that in any business one should be authentic and straight- forward about where things stand, in order to make any progress.

I left the event with many new contacts, and even more questions than I arrived with, which I guess is a good sign! ☺️
