πŸš€ NEXUS//39 Startup Pitch Day | From Ideas to Impact

Today marked the grand finale of the NEXUS//39 – Innovation Ecosystem & Startup Discovery Programme as our Portuguese Erasmus+ participants presented the startup concepts they developed after 39 days of exploring Bulgaria's innovation ecosystem.

Rather than starting with an idea, participants first observed real environments, visited innovation hubs, met industry professionals, analysed educational challenges, and transformed these insights into innovative digital solutions with real implementation potential.

Two inspiring projects took the stage:

🌱 Smart Agro – developed by Guilherme, a digital platform designed specifically for his vocational school, bringing together Agriculture students and IT students in a collaborative learning environment. The concept encourages interdisciplinary teamwork, where Agriculture students contribute their expertise in farming and crop management, while IT students develop digital tools, smart solutions, and technological innovations to address real agricultural challenges. By connecting these two disciplines, Smart Agro promotes project-based learning, innovation, and the development of future-ready skills while preparing students for the growing field of smart and sustainable agriculture.

πŸ“¦ GestaoStock – developed by Pedro, a web-based inventory and requisition management platform for schools that digitalises stock management, simplifies administrative workflows, and supports better decision-making through real-time dashboards. Inspired by challenges identified during the Erasmus+ mobility, the solution aims to modernise school logistics through an intuitive, paperless system.

The event concluded with a dynamic Q&A session, where participants defended their ideas, received valuable feedback, and reflected on the next steps needed to transform their concepts into future products and startups.

Over the past 39 days, NEXUS//39 has been much more than a mobility programmeβ€”it has been a journey through innovation, entrepreneurship, technology, teamwork, and personal growth.

πŸ‘ Congratulations to Guilherme and Pedro for their dedication, creativity, and professionalism. Their projects are proof that international mobility can inspire practical solutions with real impact in education and beyond.

πŸŽ‰ Unplug & Play: A Screen-Free Table Tennis Afternoon! πŸ“πŸŒΏ

Sometimes, the best way to reconnect is to disconnect.

As part of the GENiUS – Co-Creating the Inclusive School of the Future project, our volunteer Eren organized and facilitated an energizing workshop that encouraged participants to step away from their screens and enjoy movement, mindfulness, and meaningful social interaction.

The afternoon began with a relaxing guided meditation, helping everyone slow down, focus, and recharge. Participants then discovered the fundamentals of table tennis, practiced their new skills, and wrapped up the session with a friendly tournament full of laughter, teamwork, and healthy competition.

Beyond learning a new sport, the workshop highlighted the importance of balancing technology with physical activity, improving coordination and motor skills, and creating opportunities for people to connect in an inclusive and supportive environment.

A huge thank you to Eren for reminding us that sometimes the simplest activities create the strongest connections. πŸ’™

🌍πŸ₯— Around the World Picnic – Building Cultural Bridges! πŸ’¬βœ¨

As part of the GENiUS – Co-Creating the Inclusive School of the Future project, our volunteer Pelinsu facilitated a heartwarming "Around the World Picnic", bringing everyone together through stories, traditions, and meaningful conversations.

The highlight of the activity was the "Cultural Bridges" Question Cards Workshop, where each participant created questions inspired by their own culture before placing them into a shared basket. One by one, volunteers picked a card and answered questions about family traditions, celebrations, childhood memories, local food, and unique customs.

🌎 Every question opened a new window into a different culture.
🀝 Every answer helped build understanding, respect, and genuine connections.
πŸ’™ Every conversation reminded us that diversity is something to celebrate.

By sharing personal experiences in a fun and interactive way, our volunteers discovered that while our traditions may differ, our values of community, belonging, and friendship connect us all.

A huge thank you to Pelinsu for creating such a welcoming space for intercultural dialogue and unforgettable moments! 🌍✨

🌊 No Plan. No Luggage. No Stress.

Sometimes the best adventures are the ones you don't overthink.

Last weekend, our NEXUS//39 participants embraced a spontaneous challenge: No Plan. No Luggage. No Stress.

The journey began on Friday at 23:00, boarding a night train across Bulgaria. Travelling through the night, they arrived in Burgas early Saturday morning, just in time to welcome the sunrise by the Black Sea.

The day was spent enjoying the beach, exploring the city, meeting new people, and experiencing Burgas' vibrant nightlife. Then, before the city even woke up on Sunday, they boarded another train at 05:00, returning to Sofia with little sleepβ€”but countless unforgettable memories.

This wasn't just a weekend getaway. It was an experience in green travel, proving that sustainable mobility can also be adventurous, affordable, and unforgettable. By choosing rail transport and travelling light, participants reduced their environmental footprint while discovering another beautiful part of Bulgaria.

Sometimes the best memories aren't found in a carefully planned itineraryβ€”they're created by saying "Let's go!"

🌿 Communication starts where assumptions end.

What happens when we leave the meeting room behind and step into nature? 🌳

During our Communication & Conflict Management Workshop, facilitated by Linda, our participants transformed the outdoors into an open learning space. Through interactive simulations, trust-building challenges, active listening exercises, and group reflection, they explored how conflicts arise, how communication shapes relationships, and how empathy can turn disagreements into opportunities for growth.

The fresh air, open environment, and collaborative activities created the perfect atmosphere to step out of comfort zones, strengthen teamwork, and practice real-life communication skills.

At ICDET, we believe that learning doesn't have to happen within four walls. Sometimes the best classroom is simply the world around us.

🌍✨ Understanding cultures means understanding people.

This week, our GENiUS 3.0 volunteers took part in the ICL & Culture Shock Workshop, facilitated by Pelinsu as part of her personal project within the European Solidarity Corps.

Moving to a new country is excitingβ€”but it also comes with challenges. Through interactive activities, discussions, and real-life scenarios, participants explored the stages of culture shock, reflected on their own intercultural experiences, and discovered practical strategies for adapting to new environments while embracing diversity.

The workshop encouraged volunteers to:
🌎 Better understand cultural differences and similarities.
πŸ’¬ Improve intercultural communication skills.
🀝 Build empathy, openness, and mutual respect.
🧠 Develop practical tools for managing culture shock and supporting others during international mobility.

At GENiUS, personal projects are more than individual ideasβ€”they become opportunities to create learning experiences that benefit the entire community while helping volunteers grow as future youth workers, educators, and changemakers.

A huge thank you to Pelinsu for designing and facilitating such an engaging and meaningful workshop! πŸ‘

Together, we're building not only more inclusive schoolsβ€”but also more inclusive communities.
