Democracy in Play Training Course

Day 1 & 2

The Democracy in Play training course in Varna, Bulgaria has started. The participants from Bulgaria 🇧🇬, Romania 🇷🇴, Slovakia 🇸🇰, Hungary 🇭🇺, North Macedonia 🇲🇰 and Greece 🇬🇷 joined introductory activities, created group definitions for democracy, explored various EU values and forms of participation, identified challenges related to youth participation and presented different human rights articles within short theatre performances 🎭🗣️.

The Democracy in Play training course is funded by the European Commission under the Erasmus+ Programme.

Three days of international exchange, training and shared practice at Cinema Vekkio, as part of the PPE4InfoDem project.

This video retraces the experience shared by the project partners: a journey through educational practices, participatory methodologies, media literacy and reflections on the role of information in contemporary society.

During the training days, Cinema Vekkio presented its history, mission and “Cultura in movimento” methodology, based on mapping, narrative inquiry, artistic transformation and public action. These activities were combined with training sessions dedicated to social and mass media, disinformation, and the use of podcasting as an educational tool.

Through workshops, discussion, active listening and collaborative work, the experience strengthened dialogue among different organisations and territories, reaffirming a key principle: democracy cannot be delegated — it can only be learned through active practice.

🌅 Обучитеният курс Democracy in Play има за цел да предостави на младежките работници практически и интерактивни ресурси и компетенции за насърчаване на активното участие на младежите, демократичната ангажираност и ценностите на ЕС чрез експериментално обучение.
🍃 Ако ти си младежки работник, който би искал да развие гражданските си компетенции, обменяйки опит и идеи с участници от страните България 🇧🇬, Унгария 🇭🇺, Словакия 🇸🇰, Северна Македония 🇲🇰, Гърция 🇬🇷 и Румъния 🇷🇴, то този проект е за теб!

EduPlay Training Course in Varna, Bulgaria.

Day 4 (final)

The EduPlay training course has finished.

During the last day the participants presented their ideas for educational games, explored the Erasmus+ Programme and developed their own Erasmus+ joint projects.

During the project the youth workers have also presented the traditions, typical snacks, history and dances of Bulgaria 🇧🇬, Romania 🇷🇴, Moldova 🇲🇩, Slovakia 🇸🇰, Hungary 🇭🇺 and North Macedonia 🇲🇰.

At the end, the participants evaluated the project and joined a final reflection session. 🫂

EduPlay Training Course

Day 3

Today the participants presented their Act-It-Out group performances related to dis- and misinformation, filter bubbles and deepfakes.

Then they played the Democracy in Play board game and discussed various topics such as freedom of speech, digital and paper voting and social media moderation. 🗣️

During the day the youth workers also explored the Spaces for Future online game about sustainability and climate change and started to develop group ideas 💡 about their own unique educational games within Creative Game Lab. 🎲

EduPlay Training Course in Varna, Bulgaria 🌊

Day 2

During the second activity day, the participants explored their common interests, explored the journey of a youth worker by creating fictional youth worker personas and outlining their everyday routines, played an educational online storytelling game and joined the Act it Out non-formal activity to come up with a short group theatre performances to present different media terms. 🎭
