It's never just been dogs and cats. Over the years we have rescued, cared for then released lots of wildlife including foxes, hares, a pine marten, snakes, rats, mice and various birds. The latest was this tiny bat. Our granddaughter Yana found him flapping about on the ground and called us to get him as cats were stalking him. He spent the night recovering from his ordeal and was released the next evening. After reading that they needed a height of at least five feet to take off, we held him up over a railing. As soon as it was dark enough, he twitched his little ears and nose and away he went.

It's hard to believe that Riki is the same cat that Liam and his friends saw get run over. He was completely feral and with a broken pelvis and two broken legs he dragged himself away from them when they tried to help.
They eventually managed to catch him and we took him to Plovdiv where he underwent surgery to pin and repair the breaks.
For weeks he would hiss and go absolutely crazy whenever he saw a human. First he warmed to Liam and then the rest of us. He is now the most loving boy and is definately making up for all the years he spent alone and fending for himself on the streets. We've all got a soft spot for this boy ❤️

Emma helping Grandad (Tony) to feed some of the street dogs and pups.
We now have three generations all helping and caring for animals. Diane and Tony, their son and daughter, Liam and Kerry, Liam's partner Monika and Kerry's three girls Yana, Maya and Emma.

Bootle is very poorly at the moment. With this latest episode of cystitis, she hasn't responded to the usual antibiotics...

Bootle is very poorly at the moment. With this latest episode of cystitis, she hasn't responded to the usual antibiotics. The vets gave us different ones and rather than improving things have gone downhill. She is so uncomfortable, most days has no appetite and there is blood in her urine. The vets ran ALL the tests yesterday and we are now taking a very aggresive course of action. Please keep everything crossed she starts to improve. We just want our sweet, happy girl back 💔

This sweet girl showed up at the house a month or so ago, hungry and scared. She quickly warmed to Diane but was obviously very scared of men. It became apparent that she was pregnant and a couple of weeks ago she disappeared to have her puppies. She had them under an empty house which is just above the family home. Nine perfect, beautiful little puppies ❤️

The worry now is that these babies will soon begin exploring and wandering on to busy roads. For now all we can do is make sure mama is fed and healthy and try to keep them all safe for as long as possible 🙏
