Association Euni Partners organised a meeting on September 29 with the Community of Practices, as part of the EPIC-UP project, funded by the AMIF programme, to develop a Transfer and Adaptation plan based on the good practices presented during the visit to Poland.

The meeting was held with members of the Community of Practices to discuss and develop an action plan that would meet the specific needs on a local level and ensure long-term effectiveness and applicability.

The members of the Community of Practices shared valuable recommendations based on their expertise on the legal framework, the involvement of local authorities, ensuring sustainability through social enterprises, and the actions to be taken in relation to the implementation of good practices. The meeting marked the beginning of the development of the pilot initiative, which aims to serve as a basis for larger-scale implementation in the future.

The pilot initiative envisages the organisation of intercultural events and volunteer initiatives. The participation of young people – pupils and students – will be encouraged by involving them in trainings and joint activities. GDPR-compliant data will also be collected for the analysis of results to continuously improve the activities.

The aim is to build a sustainable mechanism for creating a safe and accessible space with an intercultural focus. The sustainability of the initiative will be ensured through the establishment of partnerships, the digitisation of services, community involvement, and adaptability to changing needs.

Expected results include the creation of an effective support mechanism that can be used by both local residents, migrants,refugees and vulnerable groups of society. Communication and cooperation between all participants in the social inclusion process will be improved. The initiative will encourage the building of a cohesive community through joint activities, cultural events and volunteer initiatives.

The meeting marked an important step towards the creation of a sustainable and effective mechanism for social inclusion, adapted to the specific needs of the local context. The partnership established between local institutions lays the foundation for long-term change, guided by a shared vision and responsibility. In the next stages, the project will focus on the implementation, monitoring, and upgrading of the proposed solutions in order to achieve a lasting impact and create a more cohesive, informed, and inclusive society.

From September 15 to 18, Association “Euni Partners” , together with representatives of the Municipality of Blagoevgrad, the Blagoevgrad Regional Administration and the Blagoevgrad Labour Office Directorate, participated in a field visit to Lodz, Poland, as part of the “EPIC-UP” project, funded by the AMIF programme.

The visit brought together representatives of various institutions and non-governmental organisations from Bulgaria and Poland to exchange good practices in the field of social inclusion, migrants’ integration and support for vulnerable groups. Participants had the opportunity to discuss specific challenges for integration, as well as sustainable solutions that are being implemented at the local level in Lodz.

The field visit began with a meeting at the Urban Activity Bureau, where the delegation was welcomed by Adam Pustelnik, First Deputy Mayor of Łódź and Agata Kobylinska, the Mayor’s representative for humanitarian aid. They presented a structured approach to migration, as well as the fact that Łódź is the first city in Poland to introduce a systematic policy for supporting and integrating migrants.

The city has five independent Centers for the Integration of Foreigners, each serving different target groups but offering identical activities. The Regional Labour Office in Łódź is a key partner in projects for the professional realisation of foreigners. In 2024, there was a special program dedicated solely to foreigners, while in 2025, all measures were combined into a single program.

The program provides:

☑️ funding job opportunities;
☑️ training courses and professional qualifications;
☑️ consulting and assistance in entrepreneurship.

The education system in Łódź has also been adapted to the needs of Ukrainian children. Intercultural assistants play an important role in this process. Their profession was officially recognised on September 1, 2024. Specialised courses support Ukrainian teachers in legalising their qualifications and strengthening their language skills. The programs are supported by UNICEF and the Ministry of Education.

The Bulgarian delegation visited the first Spilno HUB in Poland, created by the non-governmental organisation “Społecznie Zaangażowani.” It provides social, educational and psychological support to refugees from Ukraine, with a special focus on women and children.

Another example is the Urban Activity Bureau , which is run by the municipality and provides free space for civic initiatives. It employs 45 people and is open to all residents of Łódź, as well as it hosts around 500 events per year.The building has free accommodation for children without parental care, provided by the municipality.

An example of a successful practice from a project they have created, which offers:

▪️Polish language and digital literacy courses;
▪️Career guidance and training;
▪️ Psychological support, which is a key factor for successful integration.

The municipal transport company in Łódź is one of the largest employers in the region. It currently employs 46 foreigners, 39 of whom are Ukrainians who have completed qualification courses.

Integration model

A distinctive feature of Łódź is the bilateral model of cooperation between institutions and non-governmental organisations. Since 2000, NGOs have taken a leading role in working with migrants and since 2016, the institutional involvement has also increased.
The approach is systematic and long-term, rather than based on short-term projects. The city has specialised structures for working with foreigners, including:

▪️A team of intercultural assistants, psychologists, translators and social assistants;
▪️ A specialised department for foreigners, assisting with the legalisation of residence, social services and legal aid;
▪️ Integration services and parenting courses for adaptation.

The working visit to Łódź provided a valuable opportunity to exchange experiences and build partnerships between institutions and civil society organisations from different countries. Łódź demonstrated good practices in working with migrants and promoting integration and solidarity.

From 23rd June to 26th June, Association Euni Partners hosted the 5th consortium meeting in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria, within the "EUth: Strengthening Youth and Democracy in Europe" project funded by the Erasmus+ programme . The event brought together partners from Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Greece, Italy and Slovenia to reflect on national workshops' progress, evaluate project outcomes and prepare youth-driven suggestions and recommendations that will be presented to the European Parliament in Brussels.

As part of the program, "The Sculpture of Oppression" was introduced - an innovative exercise based on the 3E Method, exploring internal barriers such as fear and limiting beliefs through movement and gesture-based interpretation. This exercise sparked profound reflection and deepened the partners' empathy, insight and connection.

Another part of the partners' meeting was an OST (Open Space Technology) session with students from the High School of Science and Mathematics “Acad. Sergei Korolev”. The students were split into four groups, each guided by a project partner, to explore challenges in the education system, identify root causes and propose creative and realistic solutions. The level of insight, critical thinking and honesty demonstrated by the students were truly inspiring.
Most importantly, this session reaffirmed the core belief that youth voices matter. Listening to their experiences, fresh ideas and visions is essential not only for shaping the future of education but also for forming policy recommendations for the European Parliament.

The transnational meeting in Bulgaria was not just a milestone within the project - it was a space of learning and meaningful exchange. Together, we are shaping change.

Participants approached the issues with objectivity and critical thinking, even when their personal opinions differed from the position they were defending. During the debates, the young people came to appreciate the ability to communicate logical arguments in support of their thesis and identified the importance of considering all positions on a topic. The students shared their ideas on how to improve European Union policies by raising citizens' awareness of European institutions and their initiatives. Some of them expressed their willingness to be involved in future events on active youth participation in civil society.
