🐾 FOUND KITTENS? PLEASE READ FIRST 🐾

Street Cats of Bansko is a volunteer-run page. We are not a shelter, rescue facility, or animal control service, and we do not have a building where we can take in found kittens.

If you find kittens, the most important thing to understand is this:

**The person who finds the kittens is often their best chance of survival.**

Before moving them, please take a moment to assess the situation.

βœ… Are they clean, warm, and sleeping quietly?
βœ… Do they have round bellies?
βœ… Is there a possibility that their mother is nearby?

Please do not remove kittens from their mother unless they are truly abandoned or in danger. Mother cats frequently leave their kittens for several hours while searching for food. A kitten that appears abandoned may actually be under the care of a devoted mother.

If the kittens are in immediate danger, injured, sick, cold, or have clearly been abandoned, they may need human assistance.

What can you do?

β€’ Provide a safe, warm place. A cardboard box with a soft towel or blanket is fine.
β€’ Wrap a hot water bottle or a heating pad on low in a towel and place it in the box with them. Kittens need to be kept warm.
β€’ Offer temporary foster care.
β€’ Feed them age-appropriate kitten formula or food.
β€’ Monitor their health.
β€’ Take them to the vet if you think they need medical care
β€’ Help us find foster families or adopters.

**We can often provide supplies and guidance**, including:
β€’ Kitten formula
β€’ Syringes and bottles
β€’ Food
β€’ Basic care instructions
β€’ Networking assistance through our page

What we cannot do:
❌ Personally rescue every kitten we get a call about
❌ Provide unlimited foster space
❌ Act as animal control for Bansko
❌ Guarantee placement for every kitten

The reality is that there are far more kittens in need than there are foster homes available. The community can only help these animals when the people who find them are willing to be part of the solution.

If you've found kittens and are willing to provide temporary care, we will do everything we reasonably can to support you with supplies, advice, funds for medical care, and networking.

Together, we can save far more lives than any single volunteer ever could.

Thank you for caring about Bansko's cats. ❀️

Please note: we are not in a position to take in abandoned kittens and stray cats as we have limited space for them. Currently, the small sanctuary that we're affiliated with is quite full.

Our role is to support people (with advice, and sometimes funds) who have found homeless or injured cats and want to help. We also assist with TNR, as well as finding foster and adoptive homes.

We are not animal control of Bansko, and as much as we wish we could provide a home for every homeless kitten, we don't have the resources.

Ways you can help:

*Donate money to us, or to Bansko Strays Foundation. The money goes to supply food, litter and medical services to the cats in our care, as well as to people in the community who have stepped up to provide care to cats in or around their own homes. We also need funds for getting cats spayed and neutered--which is the only way to stop the problem in the long run.

*If you know of a cat that needs to be neutered, please contact us and we'll get it enrolled in the next neutering campaign.

*Offer to be a foster family to a cat or kitten in need. We don't have places to shelter these little ones. Oftentimes, we can assist with funds for food, litter, and medical care. What we don't have is the space to house them.

*Consider adopting. Our kittens come to you with their vaccines already given, along with a throrough medical checkup, anti-flea, deworming, and anti-parasitics given.

This brother/sister team are a bonded pair and we'd love to place them together. Found abandoned on the streets of Bansko with no mama in sight, they are currently fostering shortterm with a family. They are approximately 5 weeks old and cute as can be.

The calico is a itte girl and she basically saved both her and her brother by screaming incessantly from under a car until someone came to their rescue. Once she was warm and safe, the screaming stopped, so she knew what she was doing. 🐱

Little boy gray cat was originally smaller than his sister, but he has caught up and now outweighs her.

They are inseparable, and great company for each other, which is why we want to keep them together. They sleep curled around one another, and love to play with one another. They are great company.

Fully litter-box trained and eating both wet and dry cat food on their own. Have been given medications for deworming, and tested negative for FIV, ringworm, and fleas. They are healthy, happy and looking for a loving forever home. They are young, so would adapt well to other pets in the house.

We will make sure they get their initial vaccines at 8 weeks of age.

Please message us directly if you are interested in making these two cuties part of your family.

These six adorable kitten siblings were found abandoned under the hood of a car in Bansko. The people that found them can only provide shelter and care for another couple of days as they are leaving town. We are deperately seeking foster families to take 1, 2 or 3 of these little ones into their home for a few weeks. (We know asking to take all six is a big ask, so we can split them into groups if needed.)

They've been seen by the vet, and are taking their precautionary anti-parasitic meds for the next two days. They are disease-free and don't have fleas. We can provide some funds for food, litter and medical care. What they need is a home. Otherwise, they will need to go back on the street by the end of the week, and they won't survivie without a mama.

We estimate them to be about 4 weeks old. They are eating independently and can use the litterbox/toilet.

This is a perfect opportunity to anyone who is in town for a short time--even a couple of weeks--will give them the head start they need to survive. Digital nomads, expats, vacationers.

We'll make sure they are neutered when they are old enough, so this problem won't be perpetuated.

Please send us a message via Facebook if you have room in your home and your heart for any of these adorable little ones. They deserve a chance.

These three lovely kittens are around 8 weeks old. They were found without their mama and a kind resident has been caring for them. But she needs to leave Bansko soon, plus it's time for these three munchkins to go to their forever home. They have received their initial vaccines, and are scheduled to have their final set on June 9th. They've also received their deworming meds and have a pet passport.

The black and white one is a playful little boy. The other two are girls. Watch the video--it really showcases their individual personalities. πŸ˜„

The kittens are located in Bansko, but we may be able to assist with transportation for the right home. Please message us directly with inquiries.

Beautiful Lia is currently staying on our Bansko sanctuary. She is FIP positive, but responding well to medication. She's about 1/3rd of the way through a 90 day medication regiment.

We need a volunteer for approximately 2 months. She needs to take a pill in exact same time every day. (It can be placed in her food.) We're able to pay 100 euro for the person that would like to spend 15 min a day with Lia, and give her food and medication. Please message me if you are able to help this lovely girl.

She's located in Bansko near City Park.

Sweet adult female cat looking for a calm, patient home.

Iris was pregnant and rescued from the streets of Bansko earlier this year. She has been through a lot, but has made tremendous progress learning to enjoy indoor life. She is now spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and healthy. She had a bad mouth infection when she was rescured, which resulted in 5 teeth being removed. She eats normally, but she does have a perpetually "stuffy nose" from this healed infection, so sometimes she breathes.... okay.... snores...a little on the loud side.

She is very affectionate and needs to be in a home where someone has the time to spend with her. We've kept her separate from our two house cats, so I can't comment on how she'd be with other cats--or dogs.

Because of her history, I will be extremely selective about placement. Indoor-only home. Proper veterinary care and eventual long-term commitment are required.

Located in Bansko. Iris is approximately 2 years old.

PM me if you think you might be a good match.

Iris' three kittens are cozily, playfully settling into their new homes and I couldn't be happier. Calico girl kitty (now named Cassie) went to a loving father and son that just can't get enough of her, and Kitten boy (Bori) and his baby sister (Lea) went to the same home--a happy family with kids and dogs and cats and tons of love.

Thanks to all who supported us financially for the four months that we had Iris and the kittens. We were able to get Iris neutered, microchippd, and vaccinated and the kittens also all received their first vaccinations and microchipping.
