💛 What We Can (Usually) Help With

🐱 1. Spay & Neuter Support
We can help organize the spaying/neutering of street or outdoor cats in Bansko. This may include:
• Providing carriers or a humane trap
• Booking vet appointments
• Transport when possible
• Partial financial support (or taking part in a free campaign)
• Safe space for prep and recovery
• Returning cats safely to their territory

🐾 2. Adoption & Foster Assistance
We currently have many rescued cats and dogs looking for loving foster or forever homes. All are:
• Health checked
• Treated for parasites
• Vaccinated
• Spayed/neutered when appropriate
We work hard to socialize them and match them with the right families. If you are fostering a rescued animal, we’re happy to help with posts and finding adopters. 💛

🏥 3. Temporary Safe Space for Recovery
If space allows, we can offer short term housing for street cats recovering from illness, injury, or surgery.

🎒 4. Equipment & Advice
We can lend carriers, cages, enclosures, toys, blankets, litter boxes — and share our experience, help schedule vet visits, and sometimes assist with transport.

❗ What We Usually Cannot Help With

🚨 1. Emergencies
We understand how distressing animal emergencies are — we’ve all been there. But we cannot respond 24/7 or search for injured animals on call. Our core team (just three people with full time jobs) already cares for many rescued animals, often at our own expense. The need is huge, and while we wish we could help every animal, it’s simply not possible. 💔 Still, we keep going — and your help makes a difference.
👉 Please remember:
No one can help everyone, but everyone can help someone. Whenever possible, take that extra step — you may be their best chance.

🐣 2. Kittens
We help many kittens, which means space fills up quickly. We cannot guarantee placement for every kitten, and overcrowding is unsafe. If you can foster, we’ll support you with care guidance and help finding homes. 💛

Aria was born with us to a street mama who raised her babies with so much love and care. All the kittens have now gone to their new families, and mama Bella (Nala) is spayed and living happily as a beautiful lady.

Little Potato was found scared, lost, and completely alone, hiding under the hood of a car. She earned her adorable name because she was so tiny… and because of those irresistible popping eyes! 🥺💛

I wish all I ever had to post were cute kittens and happy adoption stories. But today, I need to share something different.

When we started the organization a few months ago, our plan for cats was simple: focus on neutering and provide a safe place for recovery afterward. That was what we believed we could realistically manage with our limited resources.
But somehow, we now have 15 cats looking for homes—and the number keeps growing, even though dozens have already been adopted.
There are simply too many cases we cannot turn away from.

Today, I saw a video of a young girl stopping a man who was walking casually with a plastic bag full of kittens. He planned to throw them into the river. To him, that seemed acceptable. Thankfully, she knew it wasn’t.
After a brief confrontation, he handed her the bag.

Those kittens are now coming to us.
They will need veterinary checks, vaccinations, quarantine, food, and time to feel safe. We hope they are healthy and strong enough to survive. Once they are ready, we will socialize them with the other cats and begin searching for loving homes.
It is an uphill battle.

I will not share the video, but a report will be filed with the authorities. We know these kittens were saved by sheer luck—someone happened to see what was happening and chose to intervene. We also know this is not an isolated case in Bansko.
This cruelty has to end. We will keep speaking up and fighting for humane solutions: neutering, responsible care, and real support for communities—not suffering and death for helpless animals.

We have no regular funding. A few times a year, we can access free castrations, but that is all. The rent for both our cat sanctuary and dog sanctuary is paid by volunteers within the organization. A small number of donations help us cover food and essential supplies, and we are deeply grateful for every one of them.

Today we added two more to the dozens of street cats that have been taken in by the foundation for spaying this year. 😻😻🐾🐾
For years, we have been fighting to control the cat population in Bansko, as the municipality does not run any spay/neuter campaigns for cats. 🐾
The funds are raised by volunteers who care deeply and act responsibly toward homeless animals. ♥️
Spaying street cats is a humane and effective way to control the population. It prevents the birth of unwanted kittens, who often die from hunger, illness, or cold on the streets. The procedure also improves the animals’ health, reduces aggression, and makes coexistence with people more peaceful. 🐾📌♥️🙏🏻
