We're rolling Mays game over through June, as we've got around two thirds of the squares remaining! One of the easiest ways to support Bansko Street Dogs is to play the squares game. It's £4.40 / 5€ a square, and when all numbers have been taken we randomly draw a winner. You not only have the chance to win £220 / 250€, but help us to raise 250€ for the dogs too! 💰

Our handsome old fella Big Wal was back off to Sofia this week, for a check with his orthopedic vet and to have new x-rays made. The vet is happy with the progress Big Wal is making, but still doesn't want to remove the stabilisers from his leg yet 😬

Anyone who followed Big Wal's story will remember how truly awful his injuries were, and the surgery after surgery that were made those first weeks, so we're absolutely happy to err on the side of caution if that's what's needed. We can start taking Big Wal on slightly longer walks, and he's loving the outside time, but it's largely much of the same for him for now. We will continue to monitor his recovery, and return to Sofia in a month for new x-rays and a fresh exam - everything crossed that all is good at that stage to remove the external stabilisers!🤞🏻

🐾 ROSHKO UPDATE 🐾

You may remember Roshko suffered an injury that caused quite a severe limp, and after vet checks he was started on a course of medications. Once the medicines were finished we continued to monitor Roshko, knowing that he would either continue to slowly recover, or that the limp would return and he would need to see a specialist. The great news is that he's pretty much back to normal! Sometimes a little tentative, but absolutely using the leg that he couldn't even touch to the floor previously. Catch him on a good day and you'll find him running and playing with his dog friends! Thanks to all who kept their eyes on this boy, it's a relief to see him back to his old self ❤️

Amazing Albie visited the vet this morning for her final vaccines and microchip. This love bug is just over 8kg, and fully grown at 2-3 years old. Albie is neutered and healthy, and looking for the perfect forever home. Albie is doing great in foster care, and has progressed so very much since I finally managed to catch her a month ago! Albie is clean, quiet and non destructive in the home. She is comfortable being left alone, and walks well on leash 😍

Albie was petrified of people for the months she was roaming the streets, seemingly wanting to approach but just too afraid to get close. Albie has been given plenty of space, and everything is going at the speed she chooses. Already she is playful and invites tummy rubs from the people she trusts. She thrives being outside, just sitting taking the world in, and adores rolling in the grass too! 🏡

We are still evaluating Albie to find out what may be needed from the best home for her - the most important thing, as always, is that we find a home that offers all the dog needs for a long and happy life. 🐾 MARGE 🐾

Marge is another of the long term streeties here in Bansko, and such a friendly girl she is! She's always been a little tubby, but recently there has been concern as she looks uncomfortable and swollen at times. We got her to the vet to be checked over, and thankfully the news is good ❤️

Marge's blood tests all came back clear. The ultrasound showed that her kidney and liver are both enlarged, which is not surprising when she's been eating who knows what and has been overweight for as long as she has! There's no underlying cause that looks like it needs treatment, and she's still the happy girl everyone knows and loves 😍

If you feed Marge regularly or know who does please get in touch. We'd love to give her some supplements to help with her joints, and if possible even try to switch out her food to something that will help her in the long run. We have asked in the shop she stays near, they don't do it nor know who fills her bowls, and we're at a loss! 🐾

You may remember this little cutie as Capy, but we've all kinds of news - including a name change to Bunny! Bunny visited the vet yesterday and had her final vaccines, which means she's all set for her forever home ... which we have already found! 😲

This lucky girlie will be joining a couple in the UK who adopted our wonderful teeny Mabel a year ago. We know Bunny is going to a wonderful home where she will be loved and cared for, and has a great playmate waiting too! Bunny has been her nickname whilst in foster because she was born without a tail and looks like a little bunny rabbit hopping around. The family heard this, and want to use it as her name going forwards so Bunny it is! 🐇

Bunny will be staying in Bansko a while longer yet, but it's so nice to know where she is going. The couple are getting married in July (and we know what kind of crazy that brings to a home!), so she will join them afterwards when all has settled down ... We can't wait! 🏡

🐾 ROSHKO 🐾

Lots of you have seen this boy around town the past couple of weeks. At first we hoped Roshko was lost, but it's apparent now he's been abandoned. Yesterday we got sent a video showing him limping, with a damaged paw, and the thought was he'd been hit by a car 😞

Lili saw Roshko later in the day and was able to catch him to bring him to meet at the vet. He was checked over but had no problem aside from the limp. We gave antibiotics and painkillers, and was told to get x-rays just to be on the safe side - my hands were full, so massive thanks to Michael who was on hand and able to chauffeur Roshko over to Blagoevgrad! 🚗

Once they got there the vet couldn't find any issue, AND Roshko was walking about with no problem at all ... If we hadn't had the video to show him limping they wouldn't have believed our story 🤣

We will keep medicating for a few days to ensure Roshko is not in pain, and can't get an infection in the paw, so if you see him around please don't give any medicines. If you see him limping or struggling in anyway take a video and send it over, but hopefully the limping was caused by the initial trauma and won't bring any further issues for this gorgeous fella! 🙏🏻
