istory: Houra has worked helping women since 1980 and in 2000 started her own project to help women and Children called Yamelle. In the beginning she had 45 women and55 children and over the years it has grown.. She educated them on survival skills, on growing and maintaining there own gardens.. To help fund her foundation when she receives no outside funding, she makes oils and clothes from cotton, plus they make their own large garden and sell the fruit and vegetables they grow.. How does the Government help? Sometimes they will help maybe 30 women with disease by giving them 6mths worth of food, and 6 children by giving them paper to go to school.. But Yamelle (Houa), has to hire a teacher for the children and hire nurses to help the sick.. The government gives the project $600 a year to help the 375 people in the care of Yamelle. What kind of support are they looking for? They need more finance to have more land to grow bigger gardens, needs to install wells to get water form the ground as the weather conditions are very arid.. She needs more equipment for gardening and more seeds to plant.. She requires money to help the sick with medicine and to be able to hire more nurses...
She requires more reliable transportation so she can go from village to village and help the people she is caring for....
