A panda made time STOP on the stage 🐼

A competition stage. A timekeeper. A room holding its breath.
And Panda — quietly pretending he had finished his speech.
The clock stopped. The judge believed him. He turned to the audience:
"You see? When you really want to, you can stop time itself."

Meet Panda. Before he turned 18, he was terrified of people. He closed conversations the moment someone walked toward him.
Public speaking didn't make him confident. It saved him from disappearing.
So he entered every contest. In French. In English. Different stages, different risks. Everyone warned him: "Play safer. Simplify. You'll lose points."
But Panda wasn't there to win.
He was there to find out who he could become.
He walked on stage with a crushed Coca-Cola can, restored it before their eyes, and said: "Release the pressure inside you — and you become ready to serve again."
He lost rounds. He won more. And this month, one of those wins took him to the District Final — representing SHAPE on the European stage. 🏆

21 years ago, Adam Tan took his first step into a Toastmasters meeting as a fresh graduate in Malaysia, afraid of public speaking.
Meeting after meeting, speech after speech, he grew a little more confident. Then one evening, he heard about DTM - Distinguished Toastmaster, the highest recognition in Toastmasters International.
"At that moment, the title sounded impressive, almost like a mountain peak far away."
Adam admits: "When I first started this journey, I simply wanted the title. However, as time passed, my understanding changed."
He did not chase a title, but become someone who creates impact and leaves a mark in the lives of others.
Today, as our VP Education and a newly Distinguished Toastmaster, Adam knows:
"Being distinguished is about creating impact and leaving a mark in the lives of others. Leadership means helping others find their voice. Communication means connecting with people. Success means lifting others along the journey."

"I felt like I was losing my way. I needed a place where I could simply come, be, grow and evolve."
That's how Nathalie felt a few months ago. Between being a good parent, a good friend, staying healthy, crushing it at work... life became one infinite checklist.

🎉 They Did It! 🎉
Last week, four of our incredible members — Panda, Marc, Kevin, and Nathalie — stepped onto the stage and brought home the prize from the contest. 🌟

But this post is not just about winning.

Each of them walked a different path. They didn’t follow the same route. They didn’t copy a formula. They chose to conquer fear in their own way, keep refining their skills, and most importantly — perform as their true selves.

Panda showed us what steady courage looks like.
Marc reminded us that growth is a choice we make every day.

After 20 years with SHAPE International Toastmasters, member Else-Marie shares what makes our community so special - and it gave us chills.

At our recent Christmas celebration, she watched 24 people from diverse backgrounds, speaking different languages, sharing stories around a table. She felt it: that feeling of togetherness that makes Toastmasters magical.

The speeches weren't just entertaining - they were transformative: 💭 "The Story of the Bulls" - sometimes betraying allies leads to our downfall 🥊 "Boxing Day" - it feels better to give than to receive

⏰ "The Story of Time" - you can't get more time, so be grateful when someone gives you theirs
Else-Marie, a non-native English speaker, shared something profound: "When I listen to my fellow Toastmasters' command of English, I am impressed! The way they use words and actions creates a feeling of togetherness."

After two decades, she knows: "Our club is a good and safe place to be, for sharing knowledge, improving language skills and making friends."
