⚽ It is World Cup season, and somewhere right now a grown adult is setting a 3am alarm just to watch a match.
I used to not understand any of it. Then I started watching this season, and I saw far more than a game. Players who never give up until the final whistle. Teamwork where the strongest one steps back so the team can win. Strategy, ambition, and yes, a little drama to fool the referee.
A football match, it turns out, is a tiny version of the world. And every player has a role to find.
That is the theme of our next meeting: It's Never Just About the Ball. Come and tell us what football brings to you.
Members and guests are all welcome. Curiosity is the only ticket you need.

No, we don't make toast. 🍞

We get that question more than you'd think. The name Toastmasters tends to confuse people. Breakfast club? Champagne society? Secret bread enthusiasts?
None of the above. Although, to be fair, there are sometimes cookies.
What actually happens at our meetings: people show up a little nervous, speak in front of other people who are also a little nervous, and somehow everyone leaves a little better than they arrived. Speeches about Yellowstone, surviving parenthood, and the great pineapple-on-pizza debate have all happened. Hands have shaken. Words have been forgotten. Eight-minute speeches have been given when six were asked for. And every single time, everybody survived.
That's the thing about this club. Nobody expects perfection. Not even close. What you'll find instead is a room full of people practicing courage, one sentence at a time.

Our new VP Education Paulina put it better than we ever could. She wrote a short piece about what Toastmasters actually is, why people join, and what quietly happens to them over time. It's honest, a little funny, and worth two minutes of your day. See the whole content in below pictures:

A panda made time STOP on the stage 🐼

A competition stage. A timekeeper. A room holding its breath.
And Panda — quietly pretending he had finished his speech.
The clock stopped. The judge believed him. He turned to the audience:
"You see? When you really want to, you can stop time itself."

Meet Panda. Before he turned 18, he was terrified of people. He closed conversations the moment someone walked toward him.
Public speaking didn't make him confident. It saved him from disappearing.
So he entered every contest. In French. In English. Different stages, different risks. Everyone warned him: "Play safer. Simplify. You'll lose points."
But Panda wasn't there to win.
He was there to find out who he could become.
He walked on stage with a crushed Coca-Cola can, restored it before their eyes, and said: "Release the pressure inside you — and you become ready to serve again."
He lost rounds. He won more. And this month, one of those wins took him to the District Final — representing SHAPE on the European stage. 🏆

🎤 JOURNEY • TRANSFORMATION • LEGACY 🌟
"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." - Lao Tzu
21 years ago, Adam Tan took his first step into a Toastmasters meeting as a fresh graduate in Malaysia, afraid of public speaking.
Meeting after meeting, speech after speech, he grew a little more confident. Then one evening, he heard about DTM - Distinguished Toastmaster, the highest recognition in Toastmasters International.
"At that moment, the title sounded impressive, almost like a mountain peak far away."
Adam admits: "When I first started this journey, I simply wanted the title. However, as time passed, my understanding changed."
He did not chase a title, but become someone who creates impact and leaves a mark in the lives of others.
Today, as our VP Education and a newly Distinguished Toastmaster, Adam knows:
"Being distinguished is about creating impact and leaving a mark in the lives of others. Leadership means helping others find their voice. Communication means connecting with people. Success means lifting others along the journey."
