Teach the Teachers

Teach the Teachers We help English Teachers in Northern Peru improve their language and didactic skills

At Teach The Teachers, we believe in sustainable cooperation to foster prosperity. By creating long term connections with schools, teachers and authorities in Northern Peru, we make sure that the project is embedded in the communities. By working closely together with the teachers to enhance their levels of English, they will be better able to impact hundreds of students in their classes, giving t

hem more professional opportunities in the future. During an entire semester, we pair up a group of Belgian volunteers with a group of Peruvian teachers. In bimonthly skype sessions, they get classes and exercises based on their personal level of English. As apotheosis, our team goes to Peru for 6 weeks, where we closely work together with the teachers: observing, training and giving feedback. On top of that, we help to raise awareness on the importance of the English levels in creating professional opportunities by organising community events. To ensure the quality of the program, we work together with the Centre voor Levende Talen (CLT) in Leuven, we use a scientific framework to test English levels and we carefully select our volunteers and give them training on teaching and the Peruvian culture.

Last week, we wrapped up our intensive classes in San Ignacio with two truly incredible groups of teachers!

What an unforgettable experience it has been! We learned so much from one another, shared countless moments of laughter and growth, and created memories that we will carry with us for a long time.

We are so grateful for every conversation, every lesson, every challenge, and every beautiful moment we shared together. Thank you for making this experience so special.

Saying goodbye is never easy, and we will miss each other so much! But we leave with full hearts, wonderful memories, and the hope that our paths will cross again.

Until next time, San Ignacio! ❤️
So grateful for these amazing teachers and for everything we experienced together.

School visits recap in Jaén 🇵🇪📚

Over the past few weeks, we’ve had the wonderful opportunity to visit several schools in Jaén and every visit has been such a valuable learning experience. We’ve discovered new teaching methods, exchanged ideas, and gained lots of inspiration along the way.

What’s stood out the most was the incredibly warm welcome we’ve received everywhere we went. The kindness, enthusiasm, and hospitality of everyone we’ve met made these visits even more special.

A huge thank you to all the schools for opening their doors to us. We’re looking forward to everything else that’s still to come!

Introducing our 4th teaching volunteer

Hi, I’m Giorgia! I’m from Italy and I studied International Politics in the UK, Belgium and East Asia, which sparked my interest in cultures and languages. I’m really looking forward to being part of this teaching experience, learning from others and practicing my Spanish! In my free time I enjoy hiking and salsa dancing :)

Introducing our 3rd Volunteer

Hi! I’m Maïté and I’m 21 years old. I live in Antwerp and I’m truly in love with this city. I am currently studying for a Master's degree in Interpreting (French-Spanish) at KULeuven. In my spare time, I dance, sometimes I go running and I enjoy going out for a drink with my friends. I am really looking forward to the adventure in Peru! 🤩

Introducing our next teaching volunteer MIlo ✨ (Pssst… we’re still looking for a couple more 👀 — https://www.teachtheteachers.be/apply).

Hi, I'm Milo, a Flemish Sign Language and interpreting student from a small town West Flanders currently studying in Antwerp.

Apart from my studies, I'm also passionate about most things nerdy, and in my free time you'll often find me reading or playing dungeons and dragons with my friends. I also love exercising and then reverting all the progress I made by having dinner or drinks with my friends. 💛

Big thanks to CLT Leuven for organizing our workshop! 🙌
Our teaching volunteers learned new skills and discovered hands‑on online teaching techniques, helping them get ready to shine in the upcoming virtual classroom! 💡✨📚

We are still looking for the last couple of volunteers to complete our team - send us a DM if you are interested.
