Lock maintenance – het natuurlijke proces ondersteunen

Elke onderhoudssessie ziet er anders uit, omdat geen twee hoofden, geen twee haarstructuren en geen twee lock-trajecten hetzelfde zijn.

Mijn werk tijdens onderhoud is niet om het haar te controleren, maar om het natuurlijke verviltingsproces te ondersteunen.
Ik vermijd overbewerking en extreme strakheid.
Losse haren worden zacht geïntegreerd, roots krijgen ruimte om te bewegen en zich te herstellen, en de locks mogen verder rijpen op hun eigen tempo.

Een instant strakke look kan visueel aantrekkelijk zijn, maar gaat vaak ten koste van de gezondheid van het haar op lange termijn.
Ik kies bewust voor duurzaamheid, veerkracht en respect voor het proces — ook al vraagt dat meer geduld.
Dreads zijn geen eindresultaat, maar een levend proces.

Lock maintenance – supporting the natural process

Every maintenance session looks different, because no two heads, no two hair types and no two lock journeys are the same.

My work during maintenance is not about controlling the hair, but about supporting the natural felting process.
I avoid overworking and extreme tightness.
Loose hairs are gently integrated, roots are given space to move and recover, and the locks are allowed to mature at their own pace.
An instant “tight” look may be visually appealing, but often comes at the cost of long-term hair health.

I consciously choose durability, resilience and respect for the process — even if that requires more patience.
Dreads are not a final result, but a living process.

Entretien des locks – soutenir le processus naturel

Chaque séance d’entretien est différente, car aucune tête, aucune texture de cheveux et aucun parcours de locks ne se ressemblent.
Mon travail lors de l’entretien n’est pas de contrôler les cheveux, mais de soutenir le processus naturel de feutrage.
J’évite le surtravail et la tension excessive.
Les cheveux libres sont intégrés en douceur, les racines ont l’espace nécessaire pour bouger et se régénérer, et les locks peuvent mûrir à leur propre rythme.
Un résultat immédiatement « bien serré » peut sembler esthétique, mais se fait souvent au détriment de la santé des cheveux à long terme.
Je choisis consciemment la durabilité, la résilience et le respect du processus — même si cela demande plus de patience.
Les locks ne sont pas un résultat final, mais un processus vivant.

Dit werk is bewust niet “instant strak”.
Ik werk met respect voor het natuurlijke verviltingsproces van het haar, zeker bij Europees haartype.

Geen overbewerking, geen trekken of forceren — wel begeleiden, zodat roots sterk blijven en dreads op lange termijn gezonder worden.
Strak en perfect glad lijkt soms mooi op dag één, maar kan op termijn meer schade dan groei brengen.

Ik kies voor duurzaamheid, beweging en herstel, ook al vraagt dat geduld.

This work is intentionally not “instant tight.”
I work with respect for the natural felting process of the hair, especially with European hair types.

No overworking, no pulling or forcing — only gentle guidance, so the roots stay strong and the dreads remain healthy in the long run.

Perfectly tight and smooth can look good on day one, but often causes damage over time.
I choose durability, movement, and recovery, even when that requires patience.

Ce travail n’est volontairement pas « ultra serré ».
Je travaille dans le respect du processus naturel de feutrage du cheveu, en particulier pour les cheveux de type européen.

Pas de surtravail, pas de traction ni de forçage — seulement un accompagnement doux, afin de préserver la force des racines et la santé des dreadlocks sur le long terme.

Un rendu très serré et lisse peut sembler beau au premier jour, mais provoque souvent des dégâts avec le temps.

Je choisis la durabilité, le mouvement et la régénération, même si cela demande de la patience.
