On May 23, 2026, Keryo’s Hearth and Hope AISBL signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Beth Nahrain Organization for Woman in Erbil, Iraq.
This cooperation reflects a shared commitment to humanitarian values, women’s empowerment, social solidarity, and community-based initiatives that support vulnerable communities and strengthen meaningful humanitarian engagement.
Through this partnership framework, both organizations aim to enhance cooperation in areas related to humanitarian support, education, community engagement, and social development initiatives.
We believe that strong partnerships play an important role in promoting dignity, strengthening communities, and building pathways of hope and cooperation.

Keryo’s Hearth and Hope AISBL is pleased to announce the official registration and establishment of “Keryo Relief and Development” in Al-Hasakah, Syria, under the authorization of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor of the Syrian Arab Republic.
This step represents an important milestone in strengthening humanitarian and community-based activities in Syria through local coordination, social solidarity, and humanitarian engagement.
Through this cooperation framework, “Keryo Relief and Development” will operate as a local implementing partner in coordination with Keryo’s Hearth and Hope AISBL, supporting initiatives focused on:
• Humanitarian and social support
• Education and community empowerment
• Development and livelihood initiatives
• Environmental and community well-being activities
We remain committed to dignity, compassion, and meaningful humanitarian action that supports vulnerable communities and strengthens hope for the future.

As we work toward establishing a permanent presence in Syria, the spirit of Keryo’s Hearth and Hope AISBL is already on the ground.

Here is a glimpse of our recent activity in the city of Al-Hasakeh: bringing gifts and joy to the children who are the heart of this community. From carefully wrapped presents to smiling faces, every detail is a step toward peace.

We are exploring the best path to register locally so we can expand our work across Northeast Syria. Until then, our commitment remains the same — to show up, to serve, and to bring hope.

Operational Update – North-East Syria and Regional Engagement
Keryo’s Hearth and Hope AISBL continues its institutional and operational preparation phase, with a primary focus on north-east Syria, alongside ongoing regional engagement in Iraq and Ukraine.
Our team is currently pursuing the administrative procedures required to establish an operational presence in Al-Hasakah Governorate. Progress has been affected by recent administrative and governance developments in the region. In this evolving context, our team remains engaged and continues to follow all applicable legal and regulatory processes in coordination with relevant authorities.
Despite these constraints, contextual monitoring and field-level analysis are ongoing. Early observations point to significant humanitarian and early recovery needs in north-east Syria, including high levels of poverty, limited access to water, electricity shortages, and environmental health concerns related to waste accumulation in urban areas.
In parallel, Keryo’s Hearth and Hope maintains active dialogue with local non-governmental organizations and civil society actors in Syria, Iraq, and Ukraine, with the aim of strengthening coordination and understanding local priorities.
At the institutional level, the organization is also undertaking structured learning and mapping of international institutional funding frameworks and foundations, in order to ensure that future engagement is aligned with our mandate, principles, and strategic objectives.
Further updates will be shared as administrative procedures advance and operational planning progresses.

Mise à jour opérationnelle – Nord-Est de la Syrie et engagement régional
Keryo’s Hearth and Hope AISBL poursuit sa phase de préparation institutionnelle et opérationnelle, avec un accent particulier sur le nord-est de la Syrie, tout en maintenant un engagement régional en Irak et en Ukraine.
Notre équipe mène actuellement les démarches administratives nécessaires à l’établissement d’une présence opérationnelle dans le gouvernorat d’Al-Hasakah. L’avancement de ce processus a été impacté par des évolutions récentes en matière de gouvernance et d’administration dans la région. Dans ce contexte en constante évolution, notre équipe demeure mobilisée et continue de respecter l’ensemble des procédures légales et réglementaires applicables, en coordination avec les autorités compétentes.
Malgré ces contraintes, les activités de suivi contextuel et d’analyse de terrain se poursuivent. Les premières observations indiquent des besoins humanitaires et de relèvement précoce importants dans le nord-est de la Syrie, notamment en ce qui concerne la pauvreté, l’accès à l’eau, l’approvisionnement en électricité, ainsi que des enjeux de santé environnementale liés à l’accumulation des déchets dans les zones urbaines.
Par ailleurs, Keryo’s Hearth and Hope maintient un dialogue régulier avec des organisations non gouvernementales locales et des acteurs de la société civile en Syrie, en Irak et en Ukraine, afin de renforcer la coordination et de mieux comprendre les priorités locales.
Au niveau institutionnel, l’organisation conduit également un travail structuré de cartographie et d’apprentissage des cadres de financement institutionnels internationaux et des fondations, afin de garantir que toute future collaboration soit pleinement alignée avec son mandat, ses principes et ses priorités stratégiques.
