What role can municipalities play in creating, revitalising, and developing local markets? 🥕
During the second day of the COREnet European Road Show, we explored how the City of Kraków is revitalising municipal markets through Short Food Supply Chains.
From the historic Unitarg Market Hall to the Little Pumpkin Vegetable House of Eliza Rusek, we saw how local producers are adapting through direct sales and collaborative models like Marchewka Mobilna, an online food market supporting storage, distribution and access to fresh local products.

The Road Show continues with a forward-looking discussion on SFSC advising and innovation.

🍋 Did you know that in the Algarve, Portugal, citrus fruits are the dominant crop, alongside avocados, berries, almonds, figs, and olives?
However, in recent years, climate change, most notably droughts, has affected the region's agriculture.
With support from the COREnet project, the Algarve is turning to short food supply chains as a solution.

🥩 Increasingly, farmers are engaging in on-farm processing and direct sales of meat products, creating new opportunities but also challenges, since these activities require a wide range of skills. Many farmers lack access to structured, practical resources tailored to these specific needs.
To address this gap, the VICTOR project, funded by the French CASDAR programme, developed a comprehensive set of digital tools and learning resources in response to the rapid growth of SFSC in the livestock sector in France.

🤝 Strengthening collaboration across European SFSC networks is becoming a key priority for the future of local food systems.
On April 2nd, 2026, TRAME hosted an Innovation Forum bringing together around 60 participants from farmer networks, research, and partner organisations.
The event offered a key moment to present COREnet and explore how agroecology can be reinforced through stronger cooperation between European and French actors.

What makes a farmers’ market truly work?
In Cagliari, the answer is not just local food. It’s coordination, trust, and support behind the scenes.
Inside Campagna Amica markets, managed by Coldiretti Sardegna, advisors play a key role: they guide farmers on pricing, branding, and rules, while keeping the market running smoothly.

🤝 We recently joined Feeding Ourselves, an annual gathering that brings together local food producers, community food advocates, researchers, advisors, facilitators, and campaigners to exchange ideas and strengthen local food systems.
Together with EU4Advice Project, we contributed to a workshop on the role of advisory services in supporting short food supply chains and helping local food systems become more viable, connected, and resilient.
