Violence against women remains a major public health and human rights challenge across Europe, affecting millions of women and girls and resulting in significant physical, mental, social, and economic consequences. Preventing violence and ensuring access to appropriate support services are essential for improving women's health and well-being.
Collaboration between the World Health Organization (WHO) and FIGO and EBCOG is vital for developing practical toolkits that promote awareness, guiding evidence-based prevention strategies, and strengthening health system responses to violence against women. Such partnerships can support sustainable capacity building, improve healthcare provider training, and enhance coordinated care for survivors.
Collaboration between organizations committed to women's health is key to creating lasting change. By working together, stakeholders can share expertise, harmonise best practices, and develop sustainable solutions that prevent violence against women while strengthening health systems for future generations. EBCOG , FIGO & WHO are committed to address this issue at global level. Thanks to Dr Hans Kluge, Prof Frank Louwen, and Dr Sambit Mukhopadhyay for their leadership to take this forward.
