PauseAI Belgium is holding a demonstration in front of the European Parliament on Monday (21 Sep, 17:00), and it would be good to see many EAs in the crowd!

The case for going is fairly simple: the people building these systems have themselves warned that the risks are serious, the race between labs has only sped up since, and there's no real mechanism forcing anyone to slow down. Place du Luxembourg is where MEPs and journalists walk past every day, and Europe is one of the few places that might act if it sees that people here are paying attention.

🌱 What does it take to turn good intentions into real-world results?

Three speakers will take us from principles to practice during the opening keynote of EA Summit: Brussels (7 Feb).

Vinoy Vijayan will introduce the core frameworks of effective altruism, the systematic approach to identifying where we can do the most good.

Mathieu Spillebeen from Effectief Geven will explore how evidence and careful reasoning can guide charitable giving toward maximum impact.

Céline Kamsteeg will bring these principles to life through her work at Lafiya, a non-profit training local female health workers in Nigeria to provide family planning services and reduce maternal mortality in underserved rural communities.
