The Tigray Diplomatic Advocacy Council – Europe (TDAC-E) has just dispatched an urgent briefing to the European Union (EEAS) and Member States regarding the catastrophic escalation in Tigray.

Statements of "concern" are no longer enough. We have officially requested that the EU:

1️⃣ Publicly identify and condemn the aggressor.
2️⃣ Demand the immediate resumption of flights, the unrestricted flow of fuel, and banking services.
3️⃣ Enforce the Pretoria Agreement.

Recent developments in Ethiopia are of deep concern. There is a troubling trend in official discourse where the Federal Government and its allies continue to portray Tigray’s leadership as the sole source of the country’s historical and current ills. This rhetoric risks pushing the region into an untenable position.

Contrary to the spirit of the Pretoria Agreement, Tigray faces increasing isolation. Critical trade routes remain obstructed, regional budget transfers have been suspended, and banking access for key humanitarian and rehabilitation institutions, including endowments, remains blocked. Furthermore, the severe restriction of fuel supplies continues to limit essential public services, such as hospitals and clinics.

Most recently, the administration has moved to suspend direct political engagement with the TPLF, effectively severing vital channels of communication. This is a critical moment for meaningful intervention. Coordinated efforts are urgently needed to ensure stability in Tigray, Ethiopia, and the wider Horn of Africa.

Today, as members of the Tigray Diplomatic Advocacy Council - Europe (TDAC-E), we have shared an open letter with Professor Alex de Waal. In this letter, we express our deep appreciation for his longstanding work on Tigray and the wider Horn of Africa, and we respectfully raise our concerns about the growing regional threats facing Tigray, including the fragile peace, continued displacement, and occupation.

We argue that while internal reform and criticism of Tigray's leadership are important, the immediate existential danger comes from renewed regional militarization, impunity for past atrocities, and the continued occupation of Tigrayan soil. We ask for a recalibration of analytical focus toward these pressing "Tier 1" threats to the survival of our people.

We invite you to read and share the letter, and to join the conversation on how advocacy, scholarship, and policy can better align to prevent another catastrophe in Tigray and the region.

The Tigray Diplomatic Advocacy Council - Europe (TDAC-E) delivered an open letter to all EU Foreign Ministers, warning that Ethiopia is again on the brink of a devastating war.

The letter documents a recent drone strike on Tigray, the systematic dismantling of the Pretoria Cessation of Hostilities Agreement, and the renewed use of dehumanizing language and proxy forces that threaten millions of civilians in Tigray and the wider Horn of Africa.

We are calling on the EU to utilize its political and economic leverage to prevent another catastrophe, protect civilians, and uphold the peace framework it helped establish.

Please read, share, and amplify our call to action!
