For two days now, a profound silence has fallen over parts of Afghanistan. The usual streams of information have dried up. The Taliban claim this is for "security," but I believe the truth is far more telling.
They are not shutting down communications to hide their strength, but to hide their defeat.
𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐭. A regime that is secure and winning doesn't need to plunge an entire nation into an information blackout. This is the action of a group that is desperate.
𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞’𝐬 𝐦𝐲 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐦: The Taliban are facing a major military or internal collapse, and this communication blackout is a smokescreen to allow them to run away or regroup without the world watching.
𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐢𝐝𝐞:
· Their retreat from advancing forces like ISIS-K or internal rivals.
· Their disarray and low morale as their fragile rule crumbles.
· The evidence of their failure and loss of control.
𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬𝐧'𝐭 𝐚 𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐞; it's a panic move. They know that if the world saw their defeat in real-time, their image of invincibility would shatter instantly.
The silence isn't just oppressive—it's a confession. They are not the mighty rulers they pretend to be. They are a faction on the brink, trying to escape the consequences of their own failure.
