Our summer recruitment drive is officially underway, and Cub Scout Pack 240 absolutely knocked it out of the park! They hosted an epic, STEM-focused recruitment event at Vilseck Elementary School, and it was a great success.

Future Cub Scouts got hands-on by engineering their very own balloon-powered LEGO cars. After some serious tuning and tweaking, the youth raced their creations down the track—and the best part? They got to keep them!

While the kids were busy breaking land-speed records, families connected over a delicious spread of chili hot dogs, brats, chips, and fruit. It was the perfect opportunity to chat about the magic of Cub Scouting and share all the exciting adventures Pack 240 has planned for the upcoming year.

If you missed the event but want your child to experience the fun, friendship, and character-building of Scouting, it’s not too late! 👉 Find a Pack, Troop, Ship, or Crew near you and sign up today: https://tacscouting.org/join/

This is what community, service, and the Scouting spirit look like in action! ⚜️

A massive shoutout to the youth and leaders of Troop 303, who stepped up alongside VFW Post 10557 for this vital Day of Service at Hohenfels. Logging 88 hours of service to restore the Memorial Park and Polish Cemetery is no small feat.

Thank you to the VFW Department of Europe for your enduring partnership and for giving our Scouts the opportunity to make a lasting impact. Together, we aren't just maintaining history; we are building character for the future.

Safeguarding Youth Training: If you have not yet taken the new Safeguarding Youth Training, you have until tomorrow, Sunday, May 31st, to complete the training. Safeguarding Youth Training is the new training program required of all Scouters and Scouters ages 18 and older. This new training goes beyond older versions of Youth Protection Training by incorporating the S.A.F.E. framework, updated content including information on online/social media safety, mental health awareness, and information to help foster a proactive culture of safety. The training takes about 90 minutes to complete and must be renewed annually with a 20-minute refresher course.

NOTE: When you login to take the training, do not go to "My Training" and then opt to "retake course". This will not link you to the new training course, but will instead take you to the refresher course. The system will allow you to complete the refresher course and pass but won’t give you credit. Be sure to select the S.A.F.E. Guarding Youth logo in the grey box on the right-hand side of the screen to be directed to the initial Safeguarding Youth Learning Plan (90 minutes in duration) or simply visit https://training.scouting.org/learning-plans/2025

This Memorial Day weekend, Scouts and Scouters from across Europe came together in a powerful display of reflection, service, and remembrance. Far from home, our youth ensured that the legacy of America’s fallen heroes will never be forgotten.
From the quiet, respectful dawn in the Netherlands to the historic ceremonies in Germany and Italy, TAC Scouts put their values into action:

🇳🇱 In the Netherlands: Brunssum Cub Scout Pack 100 placed American and Dutch flags at the Netherlands American Cemetery and had the honor of meeting U.S. Ambassador Joseph Popolo.

🇩🇪 In Germany: Scouts from Pack 113, Troop 44, Troop 324 supported USAG Stuttgart’s ceremony with a moving reading of In Flanders Fields and escorted ceremonial wreaths.

🇮🇹 In Italy: Members of the Black Eagle Lodge, Order of the Arrow, Order of the Arrow Mamchachwelendam Chapter spent their Spring Fellowship cleaning headstones and preparing the sacred grounds of the Florence American Cemetery.

There are few places more profound for a Scout than an overseas U.S. military cemetery. Read the story on our website:

We know firsthand how much our military families sacrifice, navigating frequent moves, deployments, and new environments far from home. In the Transatlantic Council, Scouting provides that essential sense of stability, camaraderie, and consistency for military youth, no matter where in the TAC they are stationed.

That’s why we are absolutely thrilled to share Scouting America’s new initiative: the Military Family Fee Waiver program! Starting June 1, the $85 national registration fee will be waived for eligible new and renewing youth from Active Duty, Reserve, and National Guard families.

As Eagle Scout and J.P. Morgan Workplace Solutions CEO Vincent La Padula (who kicked off the initiative with a generous $100,000 donation) beautifully put it: "First Class and Star requirements are the same anywhere in the world. The young adult who's moving around from base to base can find consistency and camaraderie in Scouting."

Let’s ensure every military-connected child has the opportunity to build resilience, leadership, and lifelong friendships without financial barriers.

This Memorial Day weekend has been one of service and reflection across the Transatlantic Council. Scouts participated in solemn ceremonies at American cemeteries, memorials and U.S. installations, standing together to honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Moments like these are at the very core of what Scouting is about, serving others and never forgetting the sacrifices that came before us.
