Congratulations to Eloïse Petit ‼️

Zonta had the honor of recognizing Eloïse Petit, recipient of the highly selective international STEM award, celebrating the excellence of her academic journey as a student and aerospace engineer, as well as her commitment to the decarbonization of the aviation industry 🚀

On this occasion, Eloïse received
🏅 the European District 27 Award, presented by Marie-Anne Radek, Governor-Elect representing Governor Ria Mattijssens
🏅 as well as the Club Award, presented by Valérie Rude, President of ZC Bourg-Mâcon and Maryse Fangain Awards committee

👉🏼 Through its international scholarships and awards, Zonta supports and encourages young women who excel in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), helping to promote education, innovation, and female leadership worldwide 🌎

New Podcast (German) is online ‼️

142. Umweltbildung im Ökowerk - Dr. Katharina Mohr über Umweltschutz vor der Haustür und praktische Bildungsarbeit

In dieser Folge ist Dr. Katharina Mohr bei uns zu Gast, sie ist Leiterin des Ökowerks Emden, das sich seit 1989 der ökologischen Bildungsarbeit widmet. Als „grüner Lernort“ empfängt das Ökowerk jedes Jahr rund 25.000 Besucherinnen und Besucher, insbesondere Kinder, die auf dem weitläufigen Gelände hinter dem alten Emsdeich Natur mit allen Sinnen erleben können. Umweltbildung, praktische Wissensvermittlung und „Umweltschutz im Kleinen“ stehen dabei im Mittelpunkt.

Katharina blickt auf einen vielseitigen beruflichen Weg zurück: Das Jurastudium war für sie zunächst eher Pflicht als Leidenschaft, echte Freude am Fach entwickelte sie erst im Rahmen ihrer Promotion bei der intensiven Beschäftigung mit Umweltrecht. Dank starker Unterstützung und Vernetzung vor Ort war die IHK letztlich der Türöffner zum Ökowerk, zunächst als ehrenamtliche Tätigkeit geplant, dann aber durch eine Fügung gleich hauptamtlich.

Seit 2020 trägt sie dort finanzielle, organisatorische und personelle Verantwortung – eine Rolle, in die sie nach eigenen Worten erst hineinwachsen musste. Im Gespräch teilt sie wie wichtig es für Frauen ist, sich nicht unter Wert zu verkaufen, die eigenen kommunikativen Stärken zu nutzen und den beruflichen Platz zu finden, der wirklich zu ihnen passt. Nach dieser Folge ist ein Besuch im Ökowerk eine unbedingte Empfehlung von Ute und Susanne.
