Honouring a Symbol of Strength, Love, and Endurance
On Monday, 7th October, at the North East Bangladeshi Awards (NEBA), my mother was honoured with the prestigious Maa Award, presented to her by the Lord-Lieutenant of Tyne and Wear, Ms. Lucy Winskell OBE. This award celebrates the sacrifices and unwavering dedication of mothers, and it stands as a powerful testament to the struggles my mother has faced and overcome throughout her life.
My mother is a true embodiment of resilience, love, and forgiveness. Widowed at a young age after the tragic murder of her husband, she faced the unimaginable pain of loss. Yet, despite these profound hardships, she devoted her life to raising her children with strength and compassion, ensuring they grew up with solid values and a sense of decency. Her journey has been marked by challenges that would break many, but through every trial, she remained steadfast, putting her children’s well-being at the heart of everything she did. Receiving the Maa Award from Ms. Lucy Winskell OBE is a fitting recognition of her tireless commitment to her family and her ability to rise above adversity. She is, and always will be, a beacon of peace, tolerance, and boundless love—a mother who deserves every accolade for her selflessness and the strength she has shown in the face of life's most difficult moments.
Thank you, Maa, for your sacrifices, your love, and for being the extraordinary woman that you are. This honour is a small reflection of the countless ways you have shaped our lives, and we are eternally grateful
