রাজশাহীতে অ্যাকসেস বাংলাদেশ ফাউন্ডেশনের উদ্যোগে “স্ট্রেনদেনিং রাইটস-বেসড লিডারশিপ অ্যান্ড সাসটেইনেবিলিটি অব অর্গানাইজেশন ইন বাংলাদেশ (স্ট্রং-ওপিডি)” প্রকল্পের পরিচিতি ও অবহিতকরণ সভা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে।

সেন্টার ফর দ্য রিহ্যাবিলিটেশন অব দ্য প্যারালাইজড (সিআরপি)-এর কারিগরি সহায়তা ও সিবিএম গ্লোবাল ডিজএবিলিটি ইনক্লুশন-এর আর্থিক সহযোগিতায় পরিচালিত এই সভায় ৩১টি স্থানীয় প্রতিবন্ধী ব্যক্তিদের সংগঠন (ওপিডি)-এর প্রতিনিধিসহ মোট ৫২ জন অংশীজন উপস্থিত ছিলেন।

অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন রাজশাহী জেলার অতিরিক্ত জেলা প্রশাসক (সাধারণ) মোহাঃ সবুর আলী। তিনি বলেন, “প্রতিবন্ধী ব্যক্তিদের সামাজিক বোঝা না ভেবে যথাযথ শিক্ষা ও সুযোগের মাধ্যমে সম্পদ হিসেবে গড়ে তুলতে হবে।”

বিশেষ অতিথি হিসেবে বক্তব্য রাখেন জেলা সমাজসেবা অফিসের উপ-পরিচালক মুনিরা খাতুন এবং জেলা প্রতিবন্ধী বিষয়ক কর্মকর্তা মীর শামীম আলী। এছাড়া স্বাগত বক্তব্য দেন সিআরপি রাজশাহীর সেন্টার ম্যানেজার সুমা বেগম এবং প্রকল্প বিষয়ে মূল উপস্থাপনা তুলে ধরেন অ্যাকসেস বাংলাদেশের প্রকল্প ব্যবস্থাপক সেলিম রহমান এবং সি আর পি এর টেকনিক্যাল কোর্ডিনেটর রহমাতুল বারী ।

সভার মূল লক্ষ্য ছিল প্রতিবন্ধী ব্যক্তিদের অধিকারভিত্তিক নেতৃত্ব, সাংগঠনিক স্থায়িত্ব, সুশাসন এবং অন্তর্ভুক্তিমূলক উন্নয়নে ওপিডিগুলোর কার্যকর ভূমিকা ও সরকারি-বেসরকারি সমন্বয় জোরদার করা।

"Strengthening Rights-Based Leadership and Sustainability of Organizations in Bangladesh (Strong-OPD)" Project Orientation Meeting Held in Rajshahi

An orientation and inception meeting for the project “Strengthening Rights-Based Leadership and Sustainability of Organizations in Bangladesh (Strong-OPD)” was held in Rajshahi. Access Bangladesh Foundation implements the project, with technical support from the Center for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP) and financial support from CBM Global Disability Inclusion.

A total of 52 stakeholders, including representatives from 31 local Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), attended the meeting.

Mohammad Sabur Ali, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), Rajshahi, graced the event as the Chief Guest. In his speech, he stated, "We must change the mindset of viewing persons with disabilities as a social burden. Given proper education, training, and opportunities, they can become valuable assets to society and the country."

Munira Khatun, Deputy Director of the District Social Services Office, Rajshahi, and Mir Shamim Ali, District Disability Affairs Officer, National Disability Development Foundation, Rajshahi, were present as Special Guests. Suma Begum, DGM and Center Manager of CRP Rajshahi - Afsar Hossain Center, delivered the welcome remarks. Selim Rahman, Project Manager of Access Bangladesh ‍and Rahmatul Bari, Technical Coordinator, CRP, presented the project's goals, objectives, expected results, and major activities.

The meeting focused on strengthening rights-based leadership and institutional capacity of OPDs, organizational sustainability, good governance, meaningful participation, and the active role of OPDs in inclusive development processes. Discussions were also held on enhancing coordination among government institutions, local stakeholders, OPDs, and development partners to advance disability rights.

অ্যাকসেস বাংলাদেশ ফাউন্ডেশন, এমপ্লিফাই চেঞ্জ (AmplifyChange)-এর সহায়তায় কুড়িগ্রাম জেলার চিলমারী উপজেলার অষ্টমীর চর ও নয়ারহাট ইউনিয়নে গত ১৩ সেপ্টেম্বর ২০২৬ থেকে ১৭ সেপ্টেম্বর ২০২৬ পর্যন্ত সফলভাবে মোট ৬টি উঠান বৈঠক পরিচালনা করেছে। সেপ্টেম্বর মাসজুড়ে পালিত বিশ্ব যৌন ও প্রজনন স্বাস্থ্য এবং অধিকার মাস-এর অংশ হিসেবে স্থানীয় তৃণমূল পর্যায়ে এ সচেতনতামূলক বৈঠকের আয়োজন করা হয়। বৈঠকে ১২০ জন অংশগ্রহন করেন যাদের মধ্যে ১০৫ জন নারী, ১৫ জন পুরুষ এবং ৬ জন প্রতিবন্ধী যুব ছিলেন।

আলোচনার মাধ্যমে সাধারণ মানুষের পাশাপাশি প্রতিবন্ধী ব্যক্তিদেরও যে প্রজনন স্বাস্থ্যসেবা পাওয়ার পূর্ণ অধিকার রয়েছে সে বিষয়ে সকলকে অবহিত করা হয়। একই সাথে সমাজে প্রতিবন্ধী ব্যক্তিদের নিয়ে প্রচলিত নানা ভ্রান্ত ধারণা ও কুসংস্কার দূরীকরণের গুরুত্ব নিয়ে আলোচনা করা হয়। এ ধরনের তথ্যভিত্তিক ও সচেতনতামূলক আলোচনা অংশগ্রহণকারীদের নিজস্ব স্বাস্থ্য ও মৌলিক অধিকার সম্পর্কে আরও সচেতন করে তোলে।

এছাড়াও এই দুটি ইউনিয়নের কিশোর-কিশোরী এবং প্রতিবন্ধী যুবদের যৌন ও প্রজনন স্বাস্থ্য অধিকার রক্ষায় এবং সেবা নিশ্চিতকরণে অ্যাকসেস বাংলাদেশ ফাউন্ডেশন কীভাবে কাজ করছে, তা নিয়ে বিস্তারিত আলোচনা করা হয়। স্থানীয় কিশোর-কিশোরী ও প্রতিবন্ধী যুবরা যেন প্রয়োজনীয় প্রজনন স্বাস্থ্য সংক্রান্ত তথ্য ও সেবা সহজে পেতে পারে সেজন্য অষ্টমীর চর ও নয়ারহাট ইউনিয়নে স্থাপিত ২টি হেল্প ডেস্ক এর বিষয়েও তাদের অবগত করা হয়।

এর ফলে অংশগ্রহণকারীরা নিজেদের স্বাস্থ্য ও অধিকার সম্পর্কে যেমন সচেতন হয়েছেন, তেমনি সঠিক সময়ে সঠিক স্বাস্থ্যসেবা গ্রহণের প্রয়োজনীয়তাও গভীরভাবে অনুধাবন করতে পেরেছেন।

Access Bangladesh Foundation, with support from AmplifyChange, successfully organized 6 courtyard meetings in Ashtamir Char and Nayerhat unions of Chilmari Upazila under Kurigram district from September 13 to September 17, 2026.

Arranged as part of the month-long global observance of World Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Month, these grass-roots awareness sessions brought together a total of 120 participants—including 105 women, 15 men, and 6 youth with disabilities.

The core discussions highlighted that persons with disabilities, alongside all community members, possess the fundamental right to reproductive healthcare. Key discussions focused on clearing up common myths and social stigma about disability. Through these informative sessions, participants gained a clearer understanding of their health, fundamental rights, and personal well-being.

Furthermore, the meetings detailed ACCESS Bangladesh’s ongoing initiatives dedicated to safeguarding sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR) and ensuring essential services for adolescents and youth with disabilities across both unions. Attendees were also introduced to the 2 Help Desks established in Ashtamir Char and Nayerhat unions, designed to help local youth easily access vital reproductive health information and healthcare services.

As a direct result of these courtyard meetings, participants not only grew more empowered about their health and rights, but also deeply recognized the critical importance of seeking the right healthcare services at the right time.

Inclusive employment is no longer a matter of charity or compassion. It is the right of persons with disabilities.
So far, three Global Disability Summits (GDS) have been held, and each has emphasized the importance of inclusive employment.
At the first Summit in 2018, the focus was on decent work.
At the second Summit in 2022, around 205 commitments were made under Inclusive Livelihoods and Social Protection.
Most recently, at the 2025 Summit, nearly 800 commitments were made. The Amman-Berlin Declaration highlighted the principle of “15% for the 15%,” meaning that at least 15% of development programmes in every country should promote disability inclusion.
But what is the reality?
If we look at our Labour Force Survey 2022, we can see that the labour force participation rate of persons with disabilities is only 22.54%.
Furthermore, only 27.29% of working-age persons with disabilities are employed, meaning that nearly 73% of employable persons with disabilities remain outside employment.
We want all employable persons with disabilities to have access to employment and to play a meaningful role in contributing to the country's GDP.

Nothing About Us Without Us-
This means that the meaningful participation of persons with disabilities must be ensured in employment policies, planning, budgeting, and all decision-making processes that affect their lives.

The Global Disability Summit (GDS) 2018 highlighted technology and Assistive Technology as powerful tools for inclusion.
GDS 2022 emphasized the need to make Assistive Technology more affordable and accessible.
GDS 2025 made it clear that development must be accessible and inclusive, while advancing toward the “15% for 15%” goal.
Bangladesh needs affordable Assistive Technology, Accessible public and digital services, Skills training, and Long-term support.
Because technology is not charity—it is a right.
Technology is not a luxury—it is a bridge to equal opportunity.
We don't need promises; We need action.

বাংলাদেশের প্রতিবন্ধী জনগোষ্ঠীর অধিকার ও মর্যাদা প্রতিষ্ঠায় অ্যাকসেস বাংলাদেশ ফাউন্ডেশন অধিকারভিত্তিক নেতৃত্ব এবং প্রতিবন্ধী ব্যক্তিদের সংগঠনসমূহের (OPDs) সক্ষমতা ও টেকসই উন্নয়নে প্রতিশ্রুতিবদ্ধ। এই অঙ্গীকারকে সামনে রেখে রাজশাহী, রংপুর ও সিলেটে স্ট্রং ওপিডি প্রকল্পের কার্যক্রম সফল ও কার্যকরভাবে বাস্তবায়নের লক্ষ্যে এই সমন্বিত উদ্যোগ অব্যাহত থাকবে।

Strengthening Rights-Based Leadership and OPD Sustainability in Bangladesh

Access Bangladesh Foundation, in partnership with the Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP) and CBM Global Disability Inclusion, organized a two-day Project Implementation Workshop on 6–7 September 2026 under the STRONG OPD Project.

The workshop focused on strengthening planning, coordination, implementation, monitoring, and learning of project activities. It also helped project teams develop a clear, shared understanding of implementing the first phase of the project.

Key discussions included the project implementation guidelines, work planning, reporting procedures, financial management, and practical actions for effective project delivery.

The workshop was attended by representatives from CBM Global Bangladesh, CRP and Access Bangladesh Foundation, and project staff.

Access Bangladesh Foundation remains committed to promoting the rights, dignity, and leadership of persons with disabilities and strengthening the capacity and sustainability of Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs).

Through the STRONG OPD Project, we will continue this collaboration across Rajshahi, Rangpur, and Sylhet to support stronger, more inclusive, and sustainable OPD movements in Bangladesh.

প্রতিটি ক্লাব ২০ জন করে সদস্য নিয়ে গঠিত। এই ৬টি ক্লাবের মূল লক্ষ্য হলো চরাঞ্চলের প্রান্তিক তরুণ ও প্রতিবন্ধী যুবদের মধ্যে নেতৃত্ব বিকাশ করা, যেন তারা বাল্যবিবাহ, মাদক, যৌন নির্যাতনসহ সকল সামাজিক ব্যাধির বিরুদ্ধে 'চেঞ্জমেকার' হিসেবে প্রতিরোধ গড়ে তুলতে পারে।

পাশাপাশি, প্রতিবন্ধী ব্যক্তিরাও যে সমাজে নেতৃত্ব দিতে ও মতামত প্রকাশের ক্ষমতা রাখে —এই বার্তাটি যেন সবার মাঝে ছড়িয়ে দিয়ে একটি অন্তর্ভুক্তিমূলক সমাজ গড়তে পারে সেটিই এই উদ্যোগের অন্যতম উদ্দেশ্য।

অ্যাকসেস বাংলাদেশ ফাউন্ডেশন, সেন্টার ফর দ্য রিহ্যাবিলিটেশন অব দ্য প্যারালাইজড (সি আর পি) এবং সিবিএম গ্লোবাল ডিজঅ্যাবিলিটি ইনক্লুশন যৌথভাবে স্ট্রং ওপিডি (STRONG OPD) প্রজেক্টের ("Strengthening rights-based leadership and sustainability of organizations in Bangladesh") আওতায় গত ২৩–২৫ আগস্ট ২০২৬ তারিখে তিন দিনব্যাপী গুরুত্বপূর্ণ কর্মশালার আয়োজন করে।

কর্মশালার মূল দিকসমূহ:

• GEDSI টুল তৈরি: সকল অংশগ্রহণকারী যৌথভাবে ইন্টারসেকশনালিটি, জেডসি টুলস এর প্রশ্নাবলী পর্যালোচনা এবং ঝুঁকি বিশ্লেষণের ওপর কাজ করেন। এই টুলটি মূলত প্রজেক্টের লিঙ্গভিত্তিক বাধা ও বৈষম্য দূরীকরণ, অন্তর্ভুক্তি চর্চা এবং মূল্যায়ন প্রক্রিয়ায় একটি মেকানিজম হিসেবে কাজ করবে।

• সেফগার্ডিং ও কর্মী সুরক্ষা: যৌন শোষণ ও নিপীড়ন প্রতিরোধ, শিশু সুরক্ষা, ঝুঁকিতে থাকা বয়স্ক ব্যক্তিদের সুরক্ষা এবং নৈতিক আচরণবিধি নিশ্চিত করতে প্রকল্পের সকল কর্মীদের সেফগার্ডিং নীতিমালার ওপর বিস্তারিত দিকনির্দেশনা প্রদান করা হয়।

পার্টনার সংস্থাসমূহের সাথে যৌথ প্রচেষ্টায় প্রতিবন্ধী ব্যক্তিদের অন্তর্ভুক্তিমূলক নেতৃত্ব, অধিকার সুরক্ষা ও টেকসই উন্নয়ন নিশ্চিত করতে অ্যাকসেস বাংলাদেশ ফাউন্ডেশন নিরলসভাবে কাজ করে যেতে অঙ্গীকারবদ্ধ।

Access Bangladesh Foundation, in partnership with the Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP) and CBM Global Disability Inclusion, recently participated in a comprehensive three-day workshop from 23–25 August 2026 under the STRONG OPD Project ("Strengthening rights-based leadership and sustainability of organizations in Bangladesh").

The workshop focused on two critical areas: developing a practical Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) Tool and conducting a thorough Safeguarding Orientation & Capacity Development Session for project staff.

Along with dedicated project staff, the workshop brought together OPD representatives from Rajshahi, Rangpur, and Sylhet as well as key representatives from CBM Global, CRP and Access Bangladesh Foundation.

Key Highlights of the Workshop:
• GEDSI Tool Development: Participants worked collaboratively on defining intersectionality, reviewing screening questionnaires, and conducting risk analyses. The resulting tool serves as a practical, non-compliance-based mechanism to analyze gender barriers, assess the inclusion practices of a project or an organization.

• Staff Safeguarding & Protection: All project personnel were oriented on core safeguarding principles, including Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), child protection, adult protection at risk, and organizational codes of conduct to ensure safe, ethical, and accountable project ex*****on.

এই যৌথ উদ্যোগকে আরও সুসংহত করতে গত ১৭–২০ আগস্ট ২০২৬ তারিখে একটি 'ওরিয়েন্টেশন এবং ষান্মাসিক সমন্বয় সভা' অনুষ্ঠিত হয়, যেখানে উভয় সংস্থার ৪৩ জন প্রকল্প কর্মী ও প্রতিনিধি অংশ নেন।

আমরা যৌথভাবে এমন একটি আরও অন্তর্ভুক্তিমূলক, দুর্যোগ-সহনশীল সমাজ গঠনে অঙ্গীকারবদ্ধ, যেখানে প্রতিবন্ধী ব্যক্তিরা দুর্যোগ ঝুঁকি ব্যবস্থাপনা ও জলবায়ু কার্যক্রমে অর্থপূর্ণভাবে অংশগ্রহণ করতে পারবেন।

Access Bangladesh Foundation and Caritas Bangladesh are actively collaborating to advance inclusive disaster resilience through the DIDRM CALL Programme in Sutarkhali Union (Dacope Upazila) and Moharajpur Union (Koyra Upazila).

To strengthen this strategic partnership, an Orientation and Six-Monthly Coordination Meeting was held from 17–20 August 2026, bringing together 43 project staff and representatives from both organizations.

As the newly onboarded Organization of Persons with Disabilities (OPD) partner, Access Bangladesh Foundation led key discussions on integrating disability inclusion into core field operations, defining operational roles, aligning implementation frameworks, and reviewing program progress.

The sessions featured valuable leadership and technical insights from Mr. Albino Nath (Regional Director, Caritas Khulna), Mr. Albert Mollah (Executive Director, Access Bangladesh Foundation), Tanjena Saiful (Disability Inclusion Officer - DIDRM, CBM Global Bangladesh), Md. Tauhidul Islam (Program Officer - Disaster Management, Caritas Bangladesh), Md. Shohel Rana (Head of Program, Access Bangladesh Foundation), and key project focal points.

Together, we are committed to building a more inclusive, resilient, and empowered community where persons with disabilities can participate meaningfully in disaster risk management and climate action.

জীবনের পথ সবার এক নয়, সুযোগ ও বাস্তবতাও এক নয়। কিন্তু স্বপ্ন ও এগিয়ে যাওয়ার আকাঙ্ক্ষা আমাদের সবারই অভিন্ন।

প্রতিবন্ধী যুবরাও পারে প্রযুক্তির ব্যবহার করে, উদ্যোক্তা হয়ে, কর্মসংস্থানে যুক্ত হয়ে এবং নিজেদের দক্ষতাকে কাজে লাগিয়ে অর্থনীতিতে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অবদান রাখতে।

আসুন, আমরা এমন একটি সমাজ গড়ে তুলি
যেখানে প্রতিবন্ধিতা নয়, সম্ভাবনা ও সক্ষমতাই হবে একজন মানুষের পরিচয়ের ভিত্তি।

আজ আন্তর্জাতিক আদিবাসী দিবস। এবারের প্রতিপাদ্য: “আদিবাসী ধাত্রীদের সম্মান: জীবন ও সুস্থতা সুরক্ষায় তাঁদের অবদান।”

আসুন আমরা সবাই মিলে সমতার ভিত্তিতে একটি প্রবেশগম্য ও অসাম্প্রদায়িক বাংলাদেশ বিনির্মানে একসাথে কাজ করি।
