যুব নেতৃত্বের সক্রিয় অংশগ্রহণের মাধ্যমে জলাবদ্ধতা সমস্যার টেকসই সমাধান নিশ্চিত করতে সংশ্লিষ্ট সরকারি দপ্তর, স্থানীয় সরকার প্রতিনিধি, নাগরিক সমাজ এবং বিভিন্ন স্টেকহোল্ডারদের নিয়ে একটি এডভোকেসি সভা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে।
মঙ্গলবার (২৮ জুলাই ২০২৬) সাতক্ষীরা সদর উপজেলার ম্যানগ্রোভ সভাঘরে Action for Transformation (A4T) প্রকল্পের আওতায় এ সভার আয়োজন করা হয়। সভাটি বাস্তবায়ন করে সিডো, সাতক্ষীরা এবং সহযোগিতা করে ActionAid Bangladesh।
সভায় জলাবদ্ধতার বর্তমান পরিস্থিতি, এর কারণ, জনজীবনে এর বহুমাত্রিক প্রভাব এবং সম্ভাব্য সমাধান নিয়ে বিস্তারিত আলোচনা করা হয়। বক্তারা বলেন, জলাবদ্ধতা নিরসনে সরকারি প্রতিষ্ঠান, স্থানীয় সরকার, যুবসমাজ এবং সাধারণ মানুষের সমন্বিত উদ্যোগের কোনো বিকল্প নেই। পাশাপাশি সচেতনতা বৃদ্ধি, কার্যকর পরিকল্পনা গ্রহণ এবং স্থানীয় পর্যায়ে সমন্বিত পদক্ষেপ বাস্তবায়নের ওপর গুরুত্বারোপ করা হয়।
সভায় প্রান্তিক যুব সংঘ, শাপলা প্রতিবন্ধী উন্নয়ন সংস্থা,বেতনা উন্নয়ন সংস্থা সহ বিভিন্ন যুব সংগঠনের প্রতিনিধিরা অংশগ্রহণ করেন। তারা নিজ নিজ এলাকার পাশাপাশি পার্শ্ববর্তী এলাকার জলাবদ্ধতার বাস্তব চিত্র, স্থানীয় জনগণের দুর্ভোগ এবং সমস্যার মূল কারণ তুলে ধরেন। অংশগ্রহণকারীরা বলেন, একটি এলাকার জলাবদ্ধতা অন্য এলাকার সঙ্গেও ওতপ্রোতভাবে জড়িত। তাই কেবল বিচ্ছিন্নভাবে নয়, সংযুক্ত এলাকাগুলোকে সমন্বিতভাবে বিবেচনায় নিয়ে পরিকল্পিত উদ্যোগ গ্রহণ করতে হবে।
তারা পরিকল্পিত নগর ব্যবস্থাপনা গড়ে তোলা, কার্যকর ড্রেনেজ ব্যবস্থা নিশ্চিত করা, নিয়মিত ড্রেন ও খাল পরিষ্কার রাখা, জলপ্রবাহের পথ দখলমুক্ত রাখা এবং বর্জ্য যথাযথভাবে ব্যবস্থাপনার দাবি জানান। একই সঙ্গে নিজ নিজ এলাকা ও সংলগ্ন এলাকায় যুবসমাজকে সম্পৃক্ত করে জনসচেতনতা বৃদ্ধি এবং স্থানীয় পর্যায়ে সমন্বিত উদ্যোগ গ্রহণের আহ্বান জানান।
সভায় উপস্থিত সংশ্লিষ্ট কর্তৃপক্ষ অংশগ্রহণকারীদের উত্থাপিত সমস্যা ও সুপারিশগুলো গুরুত্বসহকারে বিবেচনার আশ্বাস দেন এবং জলাবদ্ধতা নিরসনে সমন্বিত পরিকল্পনা গ্রহণ, ড্রেনেজ ব্যবস্থার উন্নয়ন এবং সংশ্লিষ্ট প্রতিষ্ঠানগুলোর মধ্যে কার্যকর সমন্বয় জোরদারের বিষয়ে বিভিন্ন ইতিবাচক প্রতিশ্রুতি ব্যক্ত করেন।
সভার শেষে অংশগ্রহণকারীরা আশা প্রকাশ করেন, আলোচনায় উঠে আসা সুপারিশ ও প্রতিশ্রুতিগুলো যথাযথভাবে বাস্তবায়িত হলে সাতক্ষীরায় জলাবদ্ধতা সমস্যা নিরসনে দৃশ্যমান অগ্রগতি অর্জিত হবে এবং একটি পরিকল্পিত, বাসযোগ্য ও পরিবেশবান্ধব নগর গড়ে তোলা সম্ভব হবে।
An advocacy meeting was held to promote sustainable solutions to waterlogging through active youth leadership, bringing together representatives from government departments, local government institutions, civil society organizations, and other relevant stakeholders.
The meeting took place on Tuesday (28 July2026) at Mangrove Sova Ghor in Satkhira Sadar under the Action for Transformation (A4T) initiative. The event was implemented by CDOW, Satkhira with support from ActionAid Banglades.
During the meeting, participants discussed the current waterlogging situation, its root causes, its impact on people's lives and livelihoods, and possible long term solutions. Speakers emphasized that effective collaboration among government institutions, local authorities, youth groups, and local communities is essential to addressing the issue. They also highlighted the importance of raising public awareness, strengthening coordinated planning, and ensuring effective implementation at the local level.
Representatives from **Prantik Jubo Songho**, Shapla Protibondhi Unnayan Sangstha, Betna Unnayan Sangstha, and several other youth groups participated in the discussion. They shared the realities of waterlogging in their own communities as well as in neighboring areas, describing the hardships faced by local residents and identifying the key factors contributing to the problem. Participants stressed that waterlogging is an interconnected issue affecting multiple communities and therefore requires integrated planning rather than isolated interventions.
They called for planned urban development, improved drainage systems, regular maintenance and cleaning of drains and canals, the removal of obstructions from natural water flow, and proper waste management. They also urged greater engagement of young people in community awareness campaigns and local advocacy initiatives to support sustainable solutions.
Representatives of the relevant authorities acknowledged the concerns and recommendations raised during the meeting and expressed their commitment to considering the proposals seriously. They pledged to strengthen coordination among relevant institutions, improve drainage infrastructure, and take effective measures to reduce waterlogging in the area.
At the end of the meeting, participants expressed hope that the commitments and recommendations made during the discussion would be translated into concrete actions, leading to visible improvements in waterlogging management and contributing to the development of a more planned, resilient, and environmentally sustainable Satkhira.
