Photographic Society of RUET(PSR):
The Photographic society of RUET is one of the leading clubs based on extra curricular activities in Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology(RUET). The Club was formed on 21st February, 2006 by the hands of the students of 02 Series of RUET. People werenβt waiting to know about the world in books or from someoneβs mouth. People started to take photographs as the availability of mobile camera progressed. The digital camera or film camera was still a luxury few would taste. From that photographic need of the students here at RUET, PSR was created. The objective of the club is to innovate the photographic potential among the engineering students and give them a platform. The club organizes workshops 3 or 4 times a year. These workshops are taken by the best photographic minds around the country. We are not only limited to seeing the photographic needs of the students, but it also sees the student perform in an organization rank to rank and how different organizational tasks are performed. The best part of being in PSR may be the Photowalks. Almost 2 photowalks are organized in a month. Here students go to a historical place or natural landscape to practice their skills in different genres. RUET being situated by the banks of Padma, Rajshahi has been blessed by many beautiful places. PSR has created a number of talented photographers who have taken photography as a profession. Photoaddas are also organized so that everyone can sit together to discuss how to improve their perspective or skills. PSR has a sub-organization named βPSR Schoolβ. Here we teach the basics of photography & camera to the enrolled students and freshers of the club. By the end of the initiative, certificates are also given to the students too. PSR is more than a club, it is a gathering of people with the same interest continuously working hard to achieve their goal. The result is also outstanding. Almost in every exhibition in the country, you will see a photographer from PSR. They have achieved many prizes too & were featured in many photography journals and magazines. The club currently has a committee of 40 members who are dedicated to the club. The number of general members may exceed 800. But active members might be around 100 who are participating in various events of the club regularly. With such dedicated members, the club goes forward in fulfilling its goal.
