Do you struggle to digest rice?
Merlin has something to share about eating or feeding rice 🐾 🍚
I’m sure many of you have heard about arsenic in rice 🌾
A simple way to reduce it and make rice gentler on digestion:
It's the starch in rice that I struggle with. The above helps to create resistant starch which actually feeds good bacteria 🦠 in a way where now I can still enjoy rice without looking pregnant after x
• Rinse well
• Soak for 30 mins–2 hours (optional but helpful)
• Cook in plenty of water (like pasta)
• Drain well
Cool and then
• Cool in the fridge overnight,
then reheat when needed
Cooling helps form “resistant starch”, which can support beneficial gut bacteria 🦠
You can do something similar with potatoes too (cook → cool → reheat).
For dogs, always see what suits the individual 🐾
Some do well with rice when needed, while others with sensitive or inflamed tummies may do better with alternatives.
Just sharing in case helpful ✨
In principle feeding rice to dogs with upset tummies:
Fresh white rice → quickly breaks to glucose
Can aggravate inflammation in dogs
But:
It’s still commonly used short-term on vet advice because it’s low residue and easy to digest
👉 So the balanced truth is:
Good tool in some cases
Not ideal for long-term or every dog
Prepare it properly x
