ARPA A Social Service and Human Resource Development Oriented Voluntary Non Government Organization ARPA has been working relentlessly to reduce poverty since 2009.

Association for Rural Peoples Advancement (ARPA) is the name of the organization. It is a Non-Profitable, Non-Government, Voluntary and Social Organization for the service of poor majority of the rural areas of the country. The north-western districts of the country are poorer than the other districts. The formal banking sector in our country is developing. But they didn’t provide financial services to the poor. This sector concentrates on large loans to the high income group, thereby completely excluding low income group. The microfinance movement, however, has shown that there is a thriving market among the poor when financial products cater to their specific needs. The poor are a quite active group in any economy. ARPA has shown that their needs can be met while at the same time making the institution profitable as well. Due to this, the people of these areas are socio-economically in bad condition. Illiteracy, Unemployment, Unawareness, Mal-nutrition and Unhealthy situation are prevailing all over the areas. As a result, majority of the people live in below living standard. Besides, the gender situation is also not good due to social mal-practices. Majority of the women section are abused and tortured mentally and physically. On the other side, most of the children are mal-nourished and sometimes become victims of trafficking and child labor. By observing and understanding all the above stated miserable conditions and realities several enthusiastic, energetic and social minded young men came forward to volunteer their services for the needy people and established an Organization named “Association for Rural peoples Advancement (ARPA)” as on September 2009. 🌿 **ARPA’s Participation in the ECSAP Project Event** 🌿

The **Expanding Civic Space through Active CSO Participation and Strengthened Governance System in Bangladesh (ECSAP) Project** organized a three-day event titled **“Marginalized Community Organizations: Expectations and the Way Forward”** from **6-8 October 2026** at **Proshika HRDC, Koitta, Manikganj**.

The event provided an important platform for discussion and exchange of views on the expectations, challenges, participation and future priorities of marginalized community organizations.

** Adv. Md. Waheduzzaman, Executive Director of ARPA**, participated in the event and shared his valuable views and experiences during the discussion.

A number of **ARPA volunteers** also participated in the event alongside the Executive Director, making the occasion a valuable opportunity for learning, networking, experience sharing and strengthening engagement with fellow CSOs and community representatives.

ARPA is pleased to be part of such an important initiative that promotes **active CSO participation, inclusive development and strengthened governance**. 🤝🌱

🌿 ARPA Stands with Indigenous Women for Rights, Dignity & Inclusion

On the occasion of the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, ARPA joined the Indigenous Women’s Conference 2026 held on 12 August at Natore Sadar Upazila Parishad Auditorium.

The conference brought together Indigenous women and representatives from Santal, Oraon, Munda, Garo, Hajong, Mahali and other Indigenous communities to discuss their rights, safety, land security, cultural heritage, access to public services and sustainable livelihoods.

Speaking at the conference, Adv. Md. Waheduzzaman, Executive Director of ARPA, highlighted the importance of strengthening the rights and dignity of Indigenous women and ensuring their meaningful participation in decision-making and community development.

ARPA believes that land rights, access to justice, women’s empowerment, cultural preservation and inclusive governance are interconnected. Through community engagement, awareness, legal support and collaboration with civil society partners, ARPA continues to work toward a more inclusive and equitable society where Indigenous women and communities can participate with dignity and confidence.
