Trash turned into pure Treasure at Fatullah Government Primary School! đŸŽ¨âœ¨âœ‚ī¸

Phase 2 of our "Trash To Treasure" Waste Management & Recycling Workshop with Sustainers NEST was an absolute triumph! On Tuesday, 140 eager students at Fatullah Government Primary School brought their eco-ideas to life right in their classrooms.

Working in their assigned groups, these 140 young change-makers took everyday household waste—tissue rolls, plastic bottles, aluminum cans, ice cream boxes, and cardboard—and transformed them into stunning, functional creations! From colorful pen holders to creative organizers and desk models, their ingenuity blew us away. 🏆🌱

They truly lived up to our motto:

đŸ“Ŗ "Trash āϕ⧇ āĻ•āϰ⧋ Treasure, āĻĒāϰāĻŋāĻŦ⧇āĻļ⧇āϰ āύāĻžāχ āϕ⧋āύ⧋ Pressure!"

A massive shoutout to all 140 brilliant students and the supportive teachers at Fatullah Government Primary School for their incredible teamwork and enthusiasm. You’ve proven that with a little imagination, nothing is truly waste! 💚

Trash today, Treasure tomorrow! đŸŒŋ✂ī¸âœ¨

Phase 1 of our "Trash To Treasure" Waste Management & Recycling Workshop with Sustainers NEST was a huge success! Our young change-makers explored proper waste sorting, the 3Rs, and adopted our motto:

đŸ“Ŗ "Trash āϕ⧇ āĻ•āϰ⧋ Treasure, āĻĒāϰāĻŋāĻŦ⧇āĻļ⧇āϰ āύāĻžāχ āϕ⧋āύ⧋ Pressure!"

đŸ“ĸ Next Tuesday: Hands-On Project Day!

Since you’ve already been divided into your groups, get your team ready! Next Tuesday, bring your necessary materials to build your recycling project right in front of us at school:

Materials: Tissue rolls, plastic bottles, aluminum cans, ice cream boxes/sticks, cardboard.

Tools: Scissors, glue, colored paper, pencils, and paints/markers.

Work together with your group to create something amazing—exciting prizes await the most creative creations! 🏆

See you all next Tuesday! đŸ‘‹â¤ī¸

On the occasion of International Plastic Bag Free Day 2026, Sustainers NEST proudly signed the Plastic-Free & Zero-Waste Commitment! Representing our organization at this crucial roundtable discussion was our Deputy Executive Director, Anika Nur Neha.

This joint initiative—led by the Youth Coalition for Climate Justice (YCCJ) and supported by SERAC-Bangladesh—unites youth-led organizations across the country in a shared responsibility to eliminate single-use plastics, organize plastic-free events, and promote zero-waste practices within our communities.
Climate action begins with the choices we make every day. Together, we are taking a meaningful step toward building a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future for our nation.

đŸĻ’ World Giraffe Day 2026 đŸĻ’

We may be a little late, but it's never too late to celebrate one of nature's most extraordinary animals— the giraffe!

Did you know that 21 June was chosen as World Giraffe Day because it is the longest day of the year in many parts of the world? A fitting tribute to the world's tallest land animal.

To mark the occasion, here are a few fascinating giraffe facts:

đŸĻ’ Unique Patterns: Just like human fingerprints, no two giraffes have exactly the same coat pattern.

đŸĻ’ A Surprising Similarity: Despite their incredibly long necks, giraffes have the same number of neck vertebrae as humans—just seven.

đŸĻ’ Very Little Sleep: Giraffes typically sleep for only 10–30 minutes throughout an entire day.

World Giraffe Day is also an opportunity to raise awareness about giraffe conservation and the importance of protecting wildlife and their habitats for future generations.

đŸŒŋ Nurturing today for a greener tomorrow!

For the past three weeks (May 21 – June 10), the brilliant young changemakers of Fatulla Pilot High School have been actively participating in our "Planting for the Future" project. Day after day, they poured their energy into caring for the trees we provided, ensuring each sapling had the chance to thrive.

Beyond just watering the plants, we were incredibly moved by the absolute dedication, responsibility, and warmth found in the progress reports they carefully submitted. Reading about their journeys with these trees was truly heartwarming.
Today, after verifying their amazing work, we visited the school to surprise them with well-deserved tokens of appreciation and gifts!

Their boundless enthusiasm reminds us that large-scale environmental preservation starts with small, daily habits. A little change in our actions today can truly change the world tomorrow. A massive thank you to the students, authority, and everyone involved at Fatulla Pilot High School for making this initiative a beautiful
success! 💚🌍

This World Reef Awareness Day, take a moment to appreciate the beauty, resilience, and importance of our oceans’ underwater cities. 🌊🐠đŸĒ¸

Coral reefs are home to extraordinary marine life, protect coastlines from powerful storms, and support ecosystems that millions rely on every day.

As rising ocean temperatures and pollution continue to threaten reefs worldwide, protecting them has never been more important.

Happy World Turtle Day!

Today is World Turtle Day! These gentle creatures play a massive role in maintaining the balance of our nature and wetlands. Many of us might not know that a turtle's shell isn't just an external house or cover—it is actually a part of their skeleton, fused right into their spine and ribs! Another fascinating fact is that the temperature of the surroundings during incubation determines whether the turtle hatchlings will be male or female. They have been surviving on Earth for over 200 million years, which is truly incredible.
Right here in Bangladesh, we are home to some wonderful and rare species of turtles. For instance, the famous Bostami Turtle found in the pond of the Bayazid Bostami shrine in Chittagong is deeply intertwined with our local culture. Then there is the Northern River Terrapin (Sona Kachim) of the Sundarbans, which is now one of the most critically endangered species in the world, and active efforts are underway to save them. Additionally, beautiful Olive Ridley sea turtles visit the sandy beaches of St. Martin's and Cox's Bazar every winter to lay their eggs.
Unfortunately, due to plastic pollution and a lack of awareness, these beautiful creatures are facing severe threats today. Keeping our rivers, canals, and oceans clean is our collective responsibility because when nature thrives, we all thrive. Let's raise awareness together! 🌊

There is something so beautiful about watching a student hold a young plant like a prize, and then gently place its roots into the earth. Today at Fatulla Pilot High School, it wasn’t just a lesson,it was pure joy. Seeing their faces light up, full of curiosity, and watching them get their hands dirty with so much enthusiasm... it gives you real hope. This is what 'Planting for the Future' is all about.

Today, April 9, 2026, under the initiative of "Seeds of Change Artists," a project of "Sustainers NEST," an awareness campaign and a special art competition were organized at Khanpur Adarsha Kindergarten School to prevent environmental pollution.

The primary goal of the event was to provide young students with a clear understanding of environmental elements—specifically water, soil, and air pollution. Alongside the discussions, the children used their imagination to portray their visions of a beautiful and green future earth on their canvases.

At the conclusion of the competition, the top three young artists were awarded by the organization. We were truly impressed by the creativity of these children and their love for the environment. Their spontaneous participation and eagerness to learn have further inspired our initiative.

We believe that today's small steps toward awareness will gift us a green and beautiful world in the future.
