On the occasion of Independence Day, Alpha Science Lab, Mymensingh Engineering College, humbly shares a milestone from its ongoing journey in hardware design and engineering.

• Hadi-V

An in-house developed RISC-V processor core, named in tribute to the nation’s martyred hero Sharif Osman Hadi. Through this effort, we aim to honor his legacy by embedding his name within a pursuit that represents resilience, progress, and the spirit of building.

• Core Specifications

RV32I_Zicsr compliant core with machine-mode support

5-stage scalar pipeline architecture

Designed with a focus on clarity, modularity, and extensibility

• Development Status

Design: Completed in RTL

Verification: Functionally verified using the processor verification platform provided by Graz University of Technology (TU Graz)

Synthesis: Successfully synthesized on the Digilent Basys3 Artix-7 FPGA board

• SWADHEEN (স্বাধীন)

A microcontroller-class system-on-chip built around the Hadi-V core

Integrates on-chip SRAM and memory-mapped peripherals

Utilizes Wishbone interconnect for on-chip communication

The name “SWADHEEN,” meaning independence, reflects our belief in technological self-reliance through indigenous engineering

• Our Perspective

This work represents our effort across the complete digital design flow — from architecture and RTL development to verification and hardware realization. It also reflects our commitment to contributing, in our own capacity, toward achieving independence in deep technology domains such as VLSI and processor design in Bangladesh.

We understand there may be interest in exploring the underlying HDL source code. At present, the repository remains private as this design is being submitted to this year’s RISC-V community challenge, in accordance with the guidelines set by the organizing team. We look forward to making the codebase publicly accessible following the conclusion of the event, tentatively in July.

At World RISC-V Days Mymensingh, we proudly showcased significant achievements and enthusiasm in deep technology ✌️

The event reached at its peak during the hands-on workshop on RISC-V-based SoC Design on an FPGA conducted by our beloved alumnus, Md. Jannatul Nayem Design Verification Engineer at Technoz.

Under his guidance, participants successfully controlled built-in LEDs and implemented a Traffic Light Controller on an FPGA, turning architectural concepts into tangible hardware solutions. The enthusiasm, curiosity, and engagement in the room highlighted the promising potential of all attendees.

The program concluded with an interactive quiz session and prize-giving ceremony, honoring technical curiosity, analytical thinking, and excellence. 🚀
