It is a matter of immense pride and honour that the Population Science Debating Club (PSDC) had the privilege of being a part of such a prestigious academic event organized by the Department of Population Science, Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University (JKKNIU).
Recently, the Department of Population Science successfully organized a seminar titled "Contemporary Population Issues, Sustainable Development and Future Challenges: Bangladesh Perspective" in observance of World Population Day 2026.
The seminar was graced by H.E. Prof. Dr. Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, Advisor to the Honorable Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, as the Chief Guest and Chief Discussant. The programme was also honoured by the presence of Professor Dr. Mohammad Musharof Hossain, Honourable Vice-Chancellor, Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University, as the Special Guest. The session was chaired by Dr. K. M. Mustafizur Rahman, Head, Department of Population Science, JKKNIU.
The seminar witnessed an enthusiastic and houseful audience, where students actively engaged in insightful discussions on contemporary population issues, demographic changes, sustainable development, and the challenges shaping Bangladesh's future. It was an enriching platform that broadened participants' knowledge and inspired them to think critically about population science and national development.
A special highlight of the event was the prize-giving ceremony, where the winners of the World Population Day 2026 Friendly Debate, organized by the Population Science Debating Club, were awarded by the Chief Guest in recognition of their outstanding performances.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Department of Population Science for organizing such an insightful seminar and for providing students with an exceptional platform to learn, engage, and grow.
Together, let us continue to foster knowledge, critical thinking, and meaningful dialogue for a sustainable future.
