Nazir (Natun Zibon Rochi) Resource Centre for Persons with Disabilities and Rural Poor Women It is a part of the Rangpur Division. NAZIR’s works centers in a. Main objectives of NAZIR:
1.

NAZIR (Natun Zibon Rochi) eng.trans. “A new life starts”, is a voluntary Non-Government Organization formed by a group of competent and humanitarian professionals to address the underlying problems of individuals and society. It is located in LalmAnirhat and started functioning and implementing developmental activities on February 1997. NAZIR’s programs cover the Lalmonirhat District which is sit

uated at the north side border of Bangladesh. There are five sub-districts namely Sadar, Aditmari, Kaliganj, Hatibandha and Patgram. Lalmonirhat is one of the poorest districts in the country which is crisscrossed by many major rivers and tributaries. The district comprises an area of 1,241 square kilometer with a population of 1, 253,460 (as of 2001) of which 69% lives in extreme poverty. poverty alleviation through providing income-generating projects, skills development training, micro-credit and savings; b. agricultural programmes such as awareness-raising on environmental degradation, soil health management, field crops, homestead gardening, fish and livestock rearing; c. prevention of occurrence and rehabilitation of persons with physical and mental disabilities; and d. Promoting social change through human development training, direct assistance, institution building and legal education. To improve the economic security of the targeted population through capacity building, skill development and income-generating activities.
2. To empower all destitute, hard core poor women and children.
3. To establish strong working relationship between organization, people, government machineries and with other related organizations.
4. To empower and promote the rights of persons with disabilities through providing life-oriented training and education.
5. To ensure involvement and participation among all stakeholders in the process.
6. To increased agro-based homestead production, thus increasing food security at family level.
7. To protect environmental degradation and pollution


LEGAL STATUS OF THE ORGANIZATION

NAZIR is registered by the department of social service Lalmonirhat and NGO Affairs Bureau vide registration no LAL/SADAR/92/98 dated 29.09.1998 and 1398 dated 7.7.1999 respectively. NAZIR is also registered by the department of Women Affairs Lalmonirhat and department of Jubo Unnayan Affairs Lalmonirhat vide registration no LAL/REGI/47/2002 dated 28.08.2002 and JU.UA/LAL/47/96-61 dated0 2.09.2002 respectively. STRUCTURE OF NAZIR

General Committee:
General committee is the highest body of NAZIR. It holds the supreme power of attorney of the organization. Presently, the general committee has a total number of 24 members from different profession. There is no maximum limit regarding the number of members in general committee. The general committee elects the executive committee for a period of two years. The general committee meets once a year, if necessary, it can hold emergency and/or special meetings. Executive Committee (EC):
The Executive Committee has 9 members. The members are elected by the General Committee for the term of two years. It includes one Chairman, one Vice Chairman, one Secretary, one joint Secretary, One Treasurer & four members. It performs all responsibilities on behalf of the general committee. The executive committee meets once in two months. Executive Director:
The Executive Director is appointed by the Executive Committee. He is responsible for program planning, implementation and overall administration. He serves as a liaison to the government, non government agencies and donors. The Executive Director is accountable to the executive committee and general committee. Staff of NAZIR:
Currently, NAZIR has 75 regular staff; 1 Executive Director, 1 Director, 2 Accountant , 1 Project Coordinator, 2 Upazila Agriculture Field Coordinator, 5 Area Manager, 13 Field Trainer, 8 Union Community Organizer, 1 Administrative Officer, 3 CHDRP, 1 Credit Manager, 08 Development workers, 4 Office Assistant, 1 Computer operator, 8 Office Peon cm Guard, 1 Program Organizer, 15 Teachers. Out of the total staff strength, there are 30 female and 45 male. (40% female and 60% male)

There is one Branch office, Training & Resource Center and one Project office situated in the operational area. The staff of central office is responsible directly to the Executive Director. He is assisted by a Director, a project Coordinator and a disability supervisor who looks after all the programs/projects. VISION

NAZIR envisages a society of individuals with utmost capacity in shaping their future. There will be peaceful, healthy and democratic society where poor and hard core poor individual including all minorities/ethnics and disabled are empowered and economically self-reliant. The community will unleash their potential and actively participate in creating a sustainable development for a better nation.
