Participating in the Launch of a Landmark Study on Humanitarian Financing and Localisation in Bangladesh

Garib Unnayan Sangstha (GUS) was honoured to participate in the official launch of the study report, "From Funding to Frontline: Unlocking Humanitarian Capacity in Bangladesh's Changing Humanitarian Funding Landscape," jointly organized by NIRAPAD, NAHAB, and the Localisation Technical Working Group (LTWG), with partnership support from ICVA and funding from the Hilton Foundation.

The event brought together representatives from government institutions, UN agencies, donors, INGOs, national and local NGOs, and humanitarian practitioners to discuss the future of humanitarian financing and localisation in Bangladesh.

The study provides valuable evidence on the current humanitarian financing ecosystem, identifies structural barriers that limit direct funding for local and national NGOs, and presents practical recommendations to strengthen equitable partnerships, localisation governance, and sustainable financing mechanisms. The findings represent an important step towards empowering frontline actors and advancing a more inclusive and locally led humanitarian system.

As a national humanitarian organization working with climate-vulnerable and marginalized communities, Garib Unnayan Sangstha (GUS) highly values such knowledge-sharing platforms that promote collaboration, innovation, accountability, and locally led humanitarian action. We remain committed to strengthening institutional capacity, fostering meaningful partnerships, and contributing to a humanitarian system where local organizations are recognized, trusted, and adequately resourced to lead effective responses.

We extend our sincere appreciation to NIRAPAD, NAHAB, LTWG, ICVA, and the Hilton Foundation for organizing and supporting this important initiative. GUS looks forward to continued collaboration in promoting localisation, partnership equity, and resilient humanitarian action across Bangladesh.

Stronger local leadership, equitable partnerships, and sustainable financing are essential for building a more effective and people-centered humanitarian future.
