Pakhi Begum (Index No. 44621), a member of the Doriarpur Climate Change Adaptation Group, is successfully cultivating crabs in her pond with financial and technical support from the HEED Bangladesh–RHL Project, funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF).

She is hopeful of achieving good results and earning a profitable return from her hard-shell crab farming initiative, which is contributing to strengthening her livelihood and resilience.

Free Vaccination and Deworming Program under HEED Bangladesh-RHL Project

Under the Resilient Homestead and Livelihood Support to the Vulnerable Coastal People of Bangladesh (RHL) Project, HEED Bangladesh is conducting a free vaccination and deworming program with financial support from the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF).
This initiative aims to improve livestock health, reduce disease risks, and strengthen climate-resilient livelihood opportunities for vulnerable communities.
In addition to members of the Climate Change Adaptation Group (CCAG), other community members are also welcome to benefit from this program.
Together, we are building healthier livestock, stronger livelihoods, and more resilient communities.

A Small Grant, A Big Change: Mostofa’s Success in Climate-Adaptive Goat Rearing

Md. Mostofa (Index No. 50145), a member of Azimpur Climate Change Adaptation Group (CCAG), once struggled to support his six-member family through daily labor. With a dream to build a better future, he learned climate-adaptive goat rearing techniques through the RHL Project of HEED Bangladesh financial support from Green Climate Fund (GCF) and Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF).
With grant support of Tk. 13,800, Mostofa built a slatted goat house and adopted improved practices like vaccination and deworming. Today, he owns 16 goats worth around Tk. 1,00,000 and has already earned Tk. 25,000 by selling 4 goats.
Mostofa’s journey is a shining example of how small support, knowledge, and determination can transform lives and build climate resilience.

A Joyful Eid in New House
Tania Begum (39), a member of the Melapara Adorshagram Climate Change Adaptation Group (Index No: 54544), lives in Mithaganj Union, Kalapara, Patuakhali with her husband and their two children—a daughter and a son. Her husband, Md. Basir Mridha (44), has been suffering from Thalassemia for over a decade. Due to his health condition, he is unable to engage in hard labor and can only manage light electrical work with great difficulty.

Tania shared that it would have been impossible for her family to construct such a house with their limited financial capacity. The house provided by the HEED Bangladesh–RHL Project has brought a significant positive change to their lives. She expressed her heartfelt gratitude, stating that they will always remember the generous support extended by HEED Bangladesh and funded by Green Climate Fund-GCF & Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation-PKSF.

This Eid brought a new meaning of happiness. The family celebrated with a sense of dignity, safety, and peace that they had never experienced before. Their four-year-old daughter, Tasfia Bushra, is especially thrilled—spending her days happily playing inside the house with her toy car, free from worry and discomfort. For Tania and her family, this is not just a house—it is a new beginning.

May this kind of happiness and improved living condition will reach all climate-vulnerable coastal communities across Bangladesh.

🌿Promoting Nature-Based Livelihoods in Kalapara 🦀

Under the RHL Project, funded by Green Climate Fund-GCF and Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation-PKSF, HEED Bangladesh is empowering coastal communities by providing essential materials for saline pond preparation to support sustainable crab farming.

In FY 2025–2026, a total of 32 beneficiaries have already received support and are preparing their ponds for crab fattening. This initiative highlights a practical and replicable nature-based solution that can be widely adopted by community members in Kalapara Upazila to enhance climate-resilient and income-generating livelihoods.

জলবায়ু পরিবর্তনের ঝুঁকি মোকাবেলায় HEED Bangladesh, গ্রীন ক্লাইমেট ফান্ড (GCF) ও পিকেএসএফ-এর অর্থায়নে “Resilient Homestead and Livelihood Support to the Vulnerable Coastal People of Bangladesh (RHL)” প্রকল্পের মাধ্যমে পটুয়াখালী জেলার কলাপাড়া উপজেলায় বসতবাড়ির আঙ্গিনায় শীতকালীন সবজি চাষের জন্য ৩০০ জন উপকারভোগীকে অনুদান সহায়তা প্রদান করেছে।
এই সহায়তার মাধ্যমে উপকারভোগীরা বেড পদ্ধতিতে বাঁধাকপি, ওলকপি, টমেটো, বেগুন, গীমা কলমি, পালংশাক, লেটুস ও গাজর চাষ করেছেন। এর ফলে একদিকে যেমন পরিবারের পুষ্টি চাহিদা পূরণ হচ্ছে, অন্যদিকে অতিরিক্ত সবজি বিক্রি করে আয় বৃদ্ধির সুযোগ সৃষ্টি হয়েছে।
এই উদ্যোগ উপকূলীয় জনগোষ্ঠীর টেকসই জীবিকায়ন ও জলবায়ু সহনশীলতা বৃদ্ধিতে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা রাখছে।

হীড বাংলাদেশ কর্তৃক ০১ ডিসেম্বর, ২০২৫ খ্রি. তারিখ রোজ সোমবার সকাল ১০:০০ ঘটিকায় কলাপাড়া উপজেলা পরিষদ সম্মেলন কক্ষে ‘দুর্যোগ সহনশীল বসতবাড়ি হস্তান্তর অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করা হয়। অনুষ্ঠানে সভাপতিত্ব করেন জনাব আনোয়ার হোসেন, নির্বাহী পরিচালক, হীড বাংলাদেশ। প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন জনাব কাউছার হামিদ, সম্মানিত উপজেলা নির্বাহী অফিসার, কলাপাড়া উপজেলা পরিষদ। অনুষ্ঠানে বিশেষ অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন মো. নাহিদ হাসান, কৃষি সম্প্রসারণ কর্মকর্তা; মো. আসাদ উজ্জামান, সহকারী পরিচালক, ঘূর্ণিঝড় প্রস্তুতি কর্মসূচি (সিপিপি); মো. মোকসেদুল আলম, উপজেলা প্রকল্প বাস্তবায়ন কর্মকর্তা; জনাব নেছারউদ্দিন আহমেদ টিপু, সভাপতি, কলাপাড়া প্রেসক্লাব; জনাব অমল মুখার্জি, সাধারণ সম্পাদক, কলাপাড়া প্রেসক্লাব প্রমুখ।
এছাড়াও হীড বাংলাদেশের কর্মকর্তা মি. আইজ্যাক রানা বনিক, সহকারী পরিচালক, অপারেশন্স ডিপার্টমেন্ট; মো. জাহাঙ্গীর আলম,আঞ্চলিক ব্যবস্থাপক, বরগুনা অঞ্চল; আব্দুল করিম, শাখা ব্যবস্থাপক, পাখিমারা শাখা; কিংকর রায়, শাখা ব্যবস্থাপক, কলাপাড়া শাখা এবং আরএইচএল প্রকল্পের কর্মকর্তাগণ উপস্থিত ছিলেন।
স্বাগত বক্তব্যে সভাপতি আনোয়ার হোসেন সকল অতিথি এবং অংশগ্রহণকারীদের তাদের সদয় উপস্থিতির জন্য আন্তরিক শুভেচ্ছা জানান এবং বলেন, হীড বাংলাদেশ-এর কোন ব্যক্তিগত এজেন্ডা নেই। ১৯৭৪ সালে প্রতিষ্ঠার পর থেকে বাংলাদেশ সরকারের সহযোগী প্রতিষ্ঠান হিসেবে সরকারের এজেন্ডা বাস্তবায়ন করে আসছে। আমাদের জন্য অত্যন্ত আনন্দের সংবাদ এই যে, এ বছর হীডবাংলাদেশ প্রাণীসম্পদ খাতে উল্লেখযোগ্য অবদানের জন্য স্বর্ণপদক পেয়েছে। এই অর্জন আমাদের সকল কর্মীদের আরও বেশি নিষ্ঠার সাথে কাজ করার জন্য অনুপ্রাণিত করবে।”
প্রধান অতিথি জনাব কাউছার হামিদ, উপজেলা নির্বাহী অফিসার বলেন, ”আশ্রয়হীন মানুষের জন্য ঘর হল মেদ্বলিক অধিকারগুলির মধ্যে অন্যতম। ঘূর্ণিঝড়ে কলাপাড়ার মানুষ তাদের ঘরবাড়ি হারায়। ঘর হারানো এসকল মানুষেরাই সবচেয়ে বেশি ঘরের জন্য কষ্ট পেয়ে থাকে। হীড বাংলাদেশ কলাপাড়া উপজেলায় ১০৯টি দুর্যোগ সহনশীল ঘর তৈরীর পাশাপাশি স্বাস্থ্যসম্মত পায়খানা, বৃষ্টির পানি সংরক্ষণ ট্যাংক স্থাপন, সোলার ও বন্ধুচুলা দিয়েছে যা অত্যন্ত বাস্তবধর্মী পদক্ষেপ। এই ধরণের গুরুত্বপূর্ণ উদ্যোগে অর্থায়নের জন্য আমি পল্লী কর্ম-সহায়ক সহায়ক ফাউন্ডেশন-কে ধন্যবাদ জানাই।
অনুষ্ঠানের দ্বিতীয় অংশে সভাপতি মহোদয় প্রধান অতিথি ও অন্যান্য অতিথিদের সাথে নিয়ে মাঠ পরিদর্শন করেন এবং নীলগঞ্জ গ্রামের উপকারভোগী আখিঁনুর, তানিয়া এবং নাসিমার দুর্যোগ সহনশীল বসতবাড়ি আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে হস্তান্তর করেন। এসময় অতিথিবৃন্দ জলপাই গাছের চারা রোপন করেন।
উল্লেখ্য যে, গ্রীন ক্লাইমেট ফান্ড (জিসিএফ) এবং পল্লী কর্ম-সহায়ক ফাউন্ডেশন (পিকেএসএফ) এর অর্থায়নে হীড বাংলাদেশ্ Resilient Homestead and Livelihood Support to the Vulnerable Coastal People of Bangladesh (RHL) প্রকল্পটি কলাপাড়া উপজেলায় মে ২০২৪ খ্রী. থেকে বাস্তবায়ন করছে।
