🌱 Climate Change Training Conducted for Climate Change Adaptation Groups-CCAGs

On 25 August 2026, two Climate Change Training was successfully conducted with the members of Purba Nabipur Climate Change Adaptation Group and Nilganj Climate Change Adaptation Group at Purba Nabipur Village and HEED Bangladesh Pakhimara Branch Office under the Resilient Homestead and Livelihood Support to the Vulnerable Coastal People of Bangladesh (RHL) Project, implemented by HEED Bangladesh and funded by Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF).

A total of 39 participants (38 female and 01 male) attended the trainings. The sessions were facilitated by Suman Majumder, Project Coordinator, and Md. Zahid Hasan Sunny, Technical Officer (Environment and Monitoring) of the RHL Project, HEED Bangladesh.

The training covered important topics including:
✅ Introduction to the RHL Project and its objectives
✅ Understanding climate change and its causes
✅ Impacts of climate change on livelihoods
✅ Climate change adaptation and mitigation measures
✅ Disaster management and community preparedness

The program enhanced participants’ knowledge and awareness, empowering them to better adapt to climate-related challenges and build resilient livelihoods in vulnerable coastal communities.

🌿🐐 Free Veterinary Medical Camps Conducted for Goat Health Protection under the RHL Project 🐐🌿

To ensure the health and well-being of goats reared by members of the East Nabipur Climate Change Adaptation Group and Nilganj Climate Change Adaptation Group, two free veterinary medical camps were successfully organized on 24 and 25 August 2026 respectively.

The camps were conducted under the Resilient Homestead and Livelihood Support to the Vulnerable Coastal People of Bangladesh (RHL) Project, implemented by HEED Bangladesh and funded by Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF).

A total of 94 goats belonging to 19 beneficiaries received veterinary healthcare services. As part of the campaign, PPR vaccines were administered to prevent contagious diseases, and 50 pieces of Fenazole Vet were distributed and used as deworming medicine.

This initiative reflects our continued commitment to improving livestock health, strengthening resilient livelihoods, and enhancing the adaptive capacity of vulnerable coastal communities.

HEED Bangladesh distributed a total of 2,475 tree saplings among 300 beneficiaries and three institutions under the Resilient Homestead and Livelihood Support to the Vulnerable Coastal People of Bangladesh (RHL) Project on 17 June 2026, in Kalapara Upazila, Patuakhali District. The project is being implemented with financial support from the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF).

The distribution event was attended by Md. Fazlu Mridha, a respected social worker; Suman Majumder, Project Coordinator, RHL Project; Abdul Karim, Branch Manager, Pakhimara Branch along with staff members of the RHL Project and the Microfinance Program (MFP).

The distributed saplings included Coconut (BARI-2), Mango (Amrapali), Jackfruit, Plum, Arjun, Mahogany, and Bohera. Each sapling was provided with a protective fencing net to safeguard it from animals and ensure healthy growth. Under the HEED Bangladesh–RHL Project, a total of 22,725 fruit and medicinal tree saplings have been planted to enhance environmental sustainability, biodiversity, and community resilience.

Shilpi Rani (Index No. 52448), a member of the Naobhanga Climate Change Adaptation Group (CCAG), has emerged as a successful crab farmer. With financial and technical support from the HEED Bangladesh–RHL Project, funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF), she started crab cultivation by stocking 15 kg of juvenile crabs in her pond.

Through proper care and management, the crabs have grown successfully, and she is now preparing to harvest and sell an expected 40 kg of marketable crabs. This achievement demonstrates the potential of climate-resilient livelihood options in improving the income and resilience of coastal communities.

Let us introduce Smrity Rani (Index No. 12910), a member of the Naobhanga Climate Change Adaptation Group (CCAG). With financial and technical support from the HEED Bangladesh–RHL Project, funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF), she has successfully started crab cultivation in her pond.

Through this climate-resilient livelihood initiative, Smrity Rani is enhancing her household income while adapting to the challenges posed by climate change.

Dipu Rani (42), a member of the Purba Nabipur Climate Change Adaptation Group (CCAG), resides in Nabipur Village under Nilganj Union of Kalapara Upazila, Patuakhali District. Inspired by the successful homestead vegetable cultivation practices of fellow CCAG members, she became enthusiastic about adopting the bed cultivation method in her own homestead.

Following the techniques demonstrated by other group members, Dipu Rani replicated the practice this year and successfully established a vegetable garden using raised beds. She cultivated a variety of nutritious vegetables, including ladies' finger (okra), spinach, bottle gourd, and green amaranth.

Through this initiative, she is not only contributing to her family's nutritional needs but also strengthening her resilience to climate-related challenges. Her success demonstrates how knowledge sharing and community-based adaptation practices can empower vulnerable households to improve food security and livelihoods.

The HEED Bangladesh–RHL Project, with the support of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF), continues to promote climate-resilient livelihood practices among coastal communities.

On 11 June 2026, HEED Bangladesh participated in an Exposure Visit organized jointly with CODEC and DFED, the implementing entities of the Resilient Homestead and Livelihoods (RHL) Project funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF).

During the visit to the Ad-din Welfare Center project interventions in Dacope Upazila, Khulna, participants observed a range of climate-resilient livelihood and homestead development initiatives, including resilient homestead construction packages (house construction, plinth raising, sanitary latrines, solar panels, and improved cooking systems), homestead gardening, ginger cultivation using the sack method, goat rearing in slatted houses, crab nursery and fattening practices, and tree plantation.

The visit provided an excellent opportunity for participants to exchange experiences, review project activities, and share knowledge and best practices on climate-resilient livelihoods and community adaptation.

A total of 10 representatives from HEED Bangladesh, including 8 project beneficiaries and 2 project officers, participated in the exchange visit.
Together, we continue to strengthen resilient communities and sustainable livelihoods in Bangladesh's climate-vulnerable coastal regions.

Pakhi Begum (Index No. 44621), a member of the Doriarpur Climate Change Adaptation Group, is successfully cultivating crabs in her pond with financial and technical support from the HEED Bangladesh–RHL Project, funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF).

She is hopeful of achieving good results and earning a profitable return from her hard-shell crab farming initiative, which is contributing to strengthening her livelihood and resilience.

Free Vaccination and Deworming Program under HEED Bangladesh-RHL Project

Under the Resilient Homestead and Livelihood Support to the Vulnerable Coastal People of Bangladesh (RHL) Project, HEED Bangladesh is conducting a free vaccination and deworming program with financial support from the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF).
This initiative aims to improve livestock health, reduce disease risks, and strengthen climate-resilient livelihood opportunities for vulnerable communities.
In addition to members of the Climate Change Adaptation Group (CCAG), other community members are also welcome to benefit from this program.
Together, we are building healthier livestock, stronger livelihoods, and more resilient communities.
