Social Aid in Bangladesh (SAB) is a non-profit, private voluntary development organization
NGO/PVDO. The organization started its development activities in January, 2004 in response to the
felt needs of the neglected and disadvantaged people of the poor communities. Some enthusiastic
social workers, educationalists and dedicated youths initiated the establishment of the SAB, with a
view to educate
and help its target beneficiaries improving their overall socio economical condition
and standard of living. The main objective of SAB is to improve skills of its target beneficiaries of the under privileged
families of the poor communities in rural and urban areas through motivating, training, educating,
organizing building and other relevant activities for their own benefits. SAB is intended to provide
necessary technical and financial supports to the target beneficiaries to acquire skills and knowledge
leading to self-employment. Its other objectives are to foster qualitative and quantitative empowerment in the living of the target
beneficiaries of the poor communities. SAB desires to ensure socio-economic development of the
target groups along with their active conscious participation in different development activities for
their own development and aspires to build a society free from exploitation, oppression and injustice,
where every individual will be able to live in peace and harmony. Presently, the organization holds 678 beneficiaries who has changed their view towards life and living
and considerably improved living standards. Many of them are self employed with financial assistance
from SAB. Total 6.7 Million Taka has been credited with soft terms to those poor communities without
any mortgage or other security. Apart from, this direct financial assistance, the organization also
helped 163 numbers of families to have electric power from Solar Power System for small home. With
its direct benefit children are continuing study, women members started small cottage industries and
men are performing other economic works during evening hours, thereby, making progress in their
earning capabilities and social standards. Concurrent activities of the organization are well defined and progressive. Due to its progressive
activities statistically, 14 new members and beneficiaries are coming under direct actions of the
organization in each month.
