Completed our 24th Eye Camp on 08.09.2025

দিনাজপুর জেলার বিরল উপজেলার মঙ্গলপুর ইউনিয়ন পরিষদ কার্যালয়ে আমাদের ২৪তম চক্ষু শিবির অনুষ্ঠিত হয় ৮ই সেপ্টেম্বর, ২০২৪। এই চক্ষু শিবিরে ১০৪ জন রোগীকে রোগ নির্ণয় ও চিকিৎসাসেবা প্রদান করা হয়। ২৮ জনের মধ্যে চশমা বিতরণ করা হয় এবং শিবিরশেষে মাজেদা চক্ষু হাসপাতালে ১৬জন রোগীর ছানি অপারেশন করা হয়। এই কর্মসূচির মাধ্যমে এ পর্যন্ত ২৮,৮০০ মানুষকে সচেতনতা কার্যক্রমের আওতায় আনা হয়েছে। এ পর্যন্ত -

রোগ নির্ণয় ও চিকিৎসা সেবা দেয়া হয়েছে – ২৬৩০ জনকে
চশমা বিতরন করা হয়েছে – ৭৭০ জোড়া
ছানি অপারেশন করা হয়েছে – ২৮১ জনের

We screened and treated 2630 people, distributed 770 pairs of spectacles, and performed 281 Cataract surgeries – all free of cost.

২৩টি চক্ষু শিবির পরিচালনার মাধ্যমে আমরা এ পর্যন্ত ২৭৬০০ জনকে সচেতনতা কর্মসূচির আওতায় এনেছি, ২৫২৬ জন রোগীকে রোগ নির্ণয় ও চিকিৎসা সেবা প্রদান করেছি, ৭৪২ জনের মধ্যে চশমা বিতরণ করেছি এবং ২৬৫ জনের চোখের ছানি অপারেশন করেছি।

আমাদের এই প্রকল্পের সমুদয় কার্যক্রম উত্তরবঙ্গের দুঃস্থ ও সুবিধাবঞ্চিত জনগোষ্ঠীর জন্য বিনামুল্যে পরিচালিত হচ্ছে।

আমাদের সেবা প্রদান অংশীদার চক্ষু বিশেষজ্ঞ ডাঃ এহসান ইকো এবং ্মাজেদা চক্ষু হাসপাতালের সব চিকিৎসক, নার্স ও স্বাস্থ্যকর্মীদের অভিনন্দন তাঁদের দক্ষ ও নিরলস কর্মতৎপরতার জন্য।

Sheba and Alternative Approach are proud to hold their 23rd Eye Camp under the Blindness Prevention and Vision Care Programme in Northern Bangladesh. So far, we have:

Reached 27600 people for the awareness campaign
Screened and treated 2526 patients
Distributed 742 pairs of spectacles
Performed 265 Cataract operations

After a few months' pause due to the illness of our Eye specialist Dr Ehsan Echo, we have resumed our Blindness Prevention and Vision Care Programme in Northern Bangladesh.

The 21st Eye Camp under the project was held on 26.07.2025, Saturday at Ramchandrapur Union Porishod (local council) office in Kaharol upazilla of Dinajpur district.

During this camp, 72 patients were screened, 22 pairs of spectacles were distributed and 7 patients underwent cataract surgery.

Progress so far:

Awareness campaign reached: 25200
Total patients screened: 2282
Spectacles distributed: 639
Cataract surgery performed: 238

All services are provided free of charge to the underprivileged communities.

Sheba, Alternative Approach, Rotary Club and Majeda Eye Hospital are joining hands to deliver this valuable service to rural Bangladesh.

We have completed 80% of our project work through the 20th of the 25 planned Eye Camps under the Community Based Blindness Prevention and Vision Care Programme in Northern Bangladesh.

Community members reached through the awareness campaign: 24,000
Patients served and screened: 2,210
Spectacles distributed: 617 pairs
Cataract operations performed: 231

All services are provided free of charge to the disadvantaged and marginalised people in Northern Bangladesh.

The 15th of our 25 planned eye camps under the Blindness Prevention and vision care programme in Northern Bangladesh was held on the 17th of October 2024 at Shoshra Union Council premises in Sadar Upazilla in Dinajpur District.

So far we have reached 18,000 people through our awareness campaign, screened and treated 1768 patients for vision-impairing eye conditions, distributed 466 pairs of corrective lenses and performed 181 cataract surgeries.

The 14th Eye Camp under our Blindness Prevention and Vision Care Programme in Northern Bangladesh took place in Polyproyagpur Union Council Office under Birampur Upazilla in Dinajpur District on the 30th of September, 2024. The Camp was preceded by a community awareness programme that reached 1200 people through community meetings, leaflet distribution, banner installation and miking. In this camp:

Patients screened – 101
Distribution of spectacles – 20 pairs
Patient selected for Cataract Surgery – 12

The patients were subsequently operated on in Majeda Eye Hospital in Birol, Dinajpur and were discharged after the post-operative briefing.

So far, our awareness campaign has reached 16,800 people. We screened 1658 people for vision-impairing eye conditions, distributed 445 pairs of corrective lenses and performed 175 Cataract surgeries since the project began.

All services are provided free of cost to the people who need it most.

The 13th Ey camp under our ‘Blindness Prevention and Vision Care Programme in Northern Bangladesh took place after a pause of about 3 months due to recent political unrest in Bangladesh.

Location: Saitara Union Porishod Office, Bangla Bazaar, Dinajpur

Patient screened: 74
Corrective lenses distributed: 20 pairs
Patients selected for Cataract operation: 10

The camp was preceded by an awareness campaign involving community meetings, miking, leaflet distribution and installation of banners.

The selected patients underwent Cataract surgery and received post operative briefing at Majeda Eye Hospital in Birol, Dinajpur following the camp.

All services were provided free of cost
