Let’s meet Rafia Sultana!
Volunteer of SSEE Society!

Rafia Sultana is a first year undergraduate student studying for her BSS (Hons) in the Department of Sociology at Barisal Brajmohan College, Barishal. Before college she completed her Higher secondary certificate at Dhaka City college,Dhanmondi, Dhaka and her Secondary School Certificate at Taslima Memorial Academy, Patharghata, Barguna both in the Humanities group.

She is a motivated and confident student with a strong interest in education, communication, and personal development. She successfully completed a certified English language course from the British Council, which has strengthened her English proficiency and enhanced her academic and communication skills.

Also her strengths include effective communication, presentation skills, and a positive learning attitude. She is eager to utilize her knowledge and skills in academic, professional, or social development–oriented fields, with the goal of contributing meaningfully to both personal growth and societal progress.

Beyond academics, she enjoys gardening, especially cultivating ornamental plants and herbs.

Let’s meet Khadija Akter Rima !
Research Associate of SSEE Society!

Khadija Akter Rima is an undergraduate student in the Department of Sociology at the University of Dhaka, with strong academic focus and experience in social research. She continues her academic journey with discipline, intellectual curiosity, and critical analysis.

Her academic and research excellence have been nationally recognized. Rima was selected among the top ten research finalists from all the universities across Bangladesh at a national research poster presentation, where she presented research on environmental policy. She also received the Best Presenter Award from the Department of Applied Chemistry at the University of Dhaka for an interdisciplinary presentation that bridged chemistry and sociology. Beyond recognition, Rima is actively engaged in empirical research. She has served as a research assistant under faculty members in the Department of Sociology and worked as a data enumerator in government research projects. Her research engagement extends internationally, with accepted conference abstracts in Turkey and the USA, addressing urbanization and social inequality in Bangladesh. Moreover, she gained experience in presenting findings in research conferences, through poster and slide presentations that strengthened her ability to present research findings professionally.

Alongside research, Rima has been actively engaged in volunteering in multiple organizations and column writing in the Daily Sun since the beginning of her university life. To strengthen her research capacity, she has completed formal training in research methodology and acquired hands-on expertise in data analysis. With a clear academic vision, Rima aspires to be an influential researcher in the future and dreams of actively contributing to society through community engagement and social research.

Executive Member of SSEE Society!

Jannatul Bushra is an environment and education professional with academic training in Geography and Environment at the undergraduate level and a master’s specialization in Urban Planning within the same discipline from the University of Dhaka. She currently works as a Project Officer at JAAGO Foundation , supporting women-focused education and development initiatives, and as a Feature Writer for The Daily Star, where she produces research-informed lifestyle and human-interest content.

She previously worked with 10 Minute School across multiple education programs, including a USAID-funded project implemented in partnership with Chemonics International and Florida State University. Her professional experience spans research, content development, and data-informed communication, with a strong focus on translating evidence into accessible narratives.

Let’s meet Nourin Setu !
Research Assistant of SSEE Society!

Setu Khanam is a postgraduate in Public Administration from the University of Barishal, with a strong academic background and a deep interest in extracurricular engagement. Throughout her university life, she actively participated in diverse activities that helped her develop leadership, teamwork, and organizational skills.

She served as the President of the Barishal University Quiz Society (BUQS), where she led initiatives to promote critical thinking and knowledge sharing among students. She also worked as a Cadet Sergeant in the Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC), Army Wing, which strengthened her discipline, leadership, and sense of responsibility. In addition, she contributed as the Public Relations Secretary of Love for Human Bangladesh (LFHBD), where she enhanced her communication, coordination, and networking skills.

She successfully coordinated the Barishal district for Newspaper Olympiad Season-4, demonstrating strong project management and coordination abilities. These diverse experiences have shaped her into a dedicated, organized, and socially responsible individual who is committed to personal growth and positive contribution to society.

Let’s meet Jobaid Ahammed !
volunteer of SSEE Society!

Jobaid Ahammed is a second-year student of the Department of Philosophy at Jagannath University, Dhaka. He has a strong academic background and a keen interest in social and environmental development. His academic interests include environmental sustainability, youth empowerment, human rights, and the role of information technology in social progress.

In addition to his studies, Jobaid is actively involved in voluntary and organizational activities. He is involved with Jagannath University Human Rights Society (JnUHRS), Jagannath University Career Club (JNUCC), Jagannath University IT Society (JnUITS), and the Physically Challenged Development Foundation – JnU. He has also been selected for an internship with Brighters, reflecting his commitment to gaining practical experience.

Jobaid has participated in many workshops, seminars, and training programs, both online and offline. Through these experiences, he has improved his leadership, communication, and community engagement skills. He strongly believes that learning should go beyond textbooks and that students should take active roles in contributing to society.

As a student of philosophy, Jobaid approaches problems with research oriented critical, logical, and analytical thinking mindset. He values ethical understanding, rational discussion, and evidence-based ideas when dealing with social and environmental issues. He hopes to contribute meaningfully to SSEE society and aims to take leadership roles where he can support inclusivity, sustainability, and social justice.

Let’s meet Asif Hossain !
Researcher of SSEE Society!

Asif Hossain is a third-year undergraduate student of Public Administration at the University of Barishal. He has a strong interest in social and policy research and aspires to build a career in research and evidence-based policy work. His academic interests focus on governance, social equity, public policy, and community development, with particular attention to inclusive and sustainable development.

Through his academic coursework and involvement in research-based activities, Asif has developed skills in literature review, data collection, academic writing, and basic research analysis. He is actively engaged with the Barishal University Research Society, which has further strengthened his commitment to research and scholarly collaboration.

At SSEE, Asif aims to contribute to research and analysis initiatives that promote social justice, environmental equity, and informed decision-making. He is motivated to work at the intersection of research, public institutions, and development initiatives to support fairness, accountability, and positive social change.
