Even today, I don’t know whether to call her story a success or an unfinished one.
She was our first rescue after opening this page — the light of our eyes, our most treasured little soul.
She came into this world with splay legs, a curved beak, and several internal complications.
Yet she fought every single day with a bravery far bigger than her tiny body.
She stayed with us for 4 precious months.
But despite all the love and all the battles, our little warrior couldn’t overcome the complications she was born with.
Eventually, we had to let her go.
Losing her broke all of us in ways words can barely express.
But Piki will always remain our reminder of love, resilience, and why we rescue.

We weren’t even supposed to get Pookie in the first place If it wasn’t for Sapphire, whose passing made one of our core member Saika apu determined to bring Pookie home. This little blue turquoise Pacific parrotlet might never have been part of BeakyBlinder. (More on Sapphire’s story soon 💙)

When Pookie arrived in the first week of July, he was only 24 grams and in terrible shape 💔 canker, air sac mites, zero appetite, and severely underweight. The breeder had called him “healthy,” but the truth was, he was hanging on by a thread.

With prompt treatment, round-the-clock care, and a whole lot of love, Pookie pulled through. Now? He’s stable, thriving, and officially the Casanova in the BeakyBlinder flock. 🐦✨

Pookie’s story is a reminder: sometimes the ones we weren’t planning on are the ones who change everything.

🦜 Meet Pippin – Our First Beaky Blinders Success Story

Pippin, a baby sun conure, came to us as one of Beaky Blinders’ very first rescues. She arrived with a leg disability, signs of malnutrition, and other health concerns.

With love, care, and rehabilitation, our amazing foster mom Samiha Apu nurtured Pippin until she became strong enough to self-feed. Once Pippin was ready for the next chapter, Naaz Apu welcomed her into her forever home.

Today, Pippin is thriving, a bright, chirpy reminder of why we do what we do. She will always be one of the first little souls that shaped Beaky Blinders into the rescue family it is today. 💛🦜

‼️ Sun Conures and Leg Disabilities‼️

Sun conures are vibrant, intelligent parrots that require proper nutrition, safe housing, and responsible breeding to stay healthy. Leg disabilities in baby birds often result from poor breeding practices, such as inbreeding, or from malnutrition in the parents before and during egg-laying. Insufficient calcium, vitamin D3, or protein can lead to weak bones and joint deformities. In some cases, overcrowded or unsafe nest boxes can also cause leg injuries. To prevent these issues, breeders must prioritize genetic diversity, provide parents with a balanced diet, and ensure that chicks are raised in a clean, spacious, and well-maintained environment. Responsible breeding is key to giving these beautiful birds the healthy start they deserve.
