Today we had a meeting with Professor Dr. Towhidul Haque from the Institute of Social Welfare and Research, University of Dhaka. During the discussion, we highlighted various issues faced by persons with disabilities and underprivileged communities. As part of our welfare responsibilities, we emphasized the importance of addressing these challenges to ensure better living conditions and improved access to essential facilities. The professor assured his support and shared valuable guidance on how to uplift their quality of life. His suggestions focused on promoting inclusive approaches that can bring meaningful change and contribute to sustainable development in their lives.

Today we had a meeting with the founding chairman of the Department of Communication Disorder at the University of Dhaka, Dr. Hakim Arif sir, where we discussed potential organizational collaborations dedicated to the development and support of persons with disabilities. The discussion primarily focused on the initiative of establishing a therapy centre, which emerged as the central point of our conversation. During the meeting, he shared a range of valuable insights regarding the planning and implementation of such a centre and offered his strong commitment to extend possible cooperation in achieving this goal. Dhaka University Support for Students with Disabilities, in collaboration with Vacancy Hunting and Ignite Global Foundation, jointly organised an insightful career guidance session titled “A Single Step of Your Career Choice.” The session was designed for students who often face uncertainty and dilemma while planning their next steps in building a career. The programme was enriched by the presence of the speaker Munshi Shariatulla Jewel, Finance and Career Advisory Professional, Founder and Lead Consultant of Vacancy Hunting, who shared practical strategies, essential techniques, and valuable insights to help participants make informed career decisions. Throughout the session, attendees gained meaningful knowledge on career planning and professional development, which made the event highly engaging and informative. It was an honour to have a formal meeting with the newly appointed Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, . The discussion primarily focused on advocacy for disability inclusion and the advancement of an inclusive academic environment within the Faculty of Social Sciences.

On behalf of the Dhaka University Support for Students with Disabilities, we engaged in a constructive and policy-oriented dialogue with the Honourable Dean. The Dean acknowledged the importance of disability inclusion in higher education and expressed a commitment to contributing meaningfully toward strengthening inclusive practices and support mechanisms for students with disabilities within the faculty.

DUSSD × Jotner Dokan

On April 17, Jotner Dokan and DUSSD (Dhaka University Support for Students with Disabilities) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding, marking the beginning of a meaningful collaboration for inclusive impact.

This partnership introduces a dedicated skills development program focused on strengthening disability entrepreneurship in Bangladesh creating pathways for sustainable, income-generating opportunities rather than one-time support.

How the collaboration works:
â€ĸ Jotner Dokan will lead the training through its network of skilled artisans with disabilities, providing materials, hands-on mentorship, and quality assurance.
â€ĸ DUSSD will identify and nominate participants, while ensuring continuous support, coordination, and follow-up throughout the program.

Together, both organizations are committed to building a more inclusive ecosystem that promotes vocational growth, independence, and long-term empowerment.

On 7 April, DUSSD President Ibnu Ahmed met Chairman Prof. Mohammad Mamun Chowdhury of the Department of Fisheries at the University of Dhaka.

During the meeting, he highlighted the key challenges faced by students with disabilities, particularly the barriers created by the lack of accessibility across campus.

We are delighted to share that on the last day, the team of Dhaka University Support for Students with Disabilities (DUSSD) had the honour of meeting the Honourable Vice Chancellor of the University of Dhaka. The meeting was a meaningful step toward strengthening inclusion and ensuring the rights and support of students with disabilities on campus.
We are also proud to announce that this initiative has been featured in four national newspapers, highlighting the importance of accessibility and inclusive education in higher institutions.
We sincerely thank everyone who continues to support our journey toward a more inclusive and equitable university environment.
