Tigers are more than just a majestic species; they are the ultimate guardians of our forests and the apex of a healthy ecosystem. đŸ…đŸŒŗWhen we protect tigers, we protect thousands of other species and the vital forests that provide us with clean air and water.

This Global Tiger Day 2026, let’s look beyond the stripes. Let's recognize that saving the tiger is intrinsically linked to saving our planet. From fighting climate change to stopping poaching, every action counts. Let’s raise our voices for the voiceless kings of the wild. 🌍🐾

Hepatitis remains a major public health concern, both globally and here in Bangladesh.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), nearly one crore people in Bangladesh are suffering from Hepatitis B and C, while an estimated 20,000 people unofficially die from hepatitis every year. Globally, hepatitis affects hundreds of millions of people, with approximately 1.34 million lives lost every year due to the disease.

Even more concerning is that 9 out of 10 people living with Hepatitis B and C in Bangladesh are reportedly unaware that they are carrying the virus.

This World Hepatitis Day, let’s break down the lack of awareness and misinformation around hepatitis and put more focus on prevention, early diagnosis, and access to affordable and timely treatment. Knowing your status can be the first step towards protecting your health.

A few more glimpses from the first HRIDAChakra.

Beyond the photos were conversations that inspired new ideas, strengthened connections, and reminded us of the power of listening to one another. Every voice added something valuable, and every perspective helped shape the beginning of a community we hope will continue to grow with openness, collaboration, and purpose.

45% of garment workers in Bangladesh report experiencing gender-based violence and harassment in their workplaces.

Behind this figure are thousands of workers whose daily lives are shaped by fear, intimidation, discrimination, and abuse. Gender-based violence and harassment is not limited to one form—it includes sexual harassment, psychological abuse, verbal violence, economic exploitation, and physical violence. Its impacts extend far beyond the workplace, affecting mental health, family relationships, financial security, and workers' ability to continue earning a livelihood.

For many survivors, speaking out comes with significant risks, including loss of income, workplace retaliation, stigma, and social isolation. These barriers often allow abusive behaviours to continue unchecked, reinforcing unequal power dynamics and creating workplaces where workers feel unsafe and unheard.

Every garment worker deserves a workplace where dignity is protected, voices are respected, and safety is guaranteed. Ending GBVH is not only a matter of protecting workers' rights—it is essential for creating fair, inclusive, and sustainable workplaces where everyone can work free from fear and discrimination.

The world's largest generation of young people carries immense potential to transform our communities, economies, and future. Yet, millions still face barriers to education, healthcare, employment, gender equality, and meaningful participation in decision-making.

World Population Day is not simply about counting people, it's about valuing every individual. It is about recognizing that sustainable development begins when every young person has the freedom, opportunity, and support to dream, to choose, and to succeed.

When young people are empowered to make informed choices about their education, careers, health, and lives, entire communities become stronger, more resilient, and more prosperous.

This World Population Day, let us reaffirm our commitment to creating a world where every young person regardless of gender, background, ability, or circumstance has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Did you know that households are responsible for nearly 60% of global food waste? While millions of people struggle with hunger every day, a significant amount of edible food is discarded from our homes.

Food waste is more than just wasted meals. It wastes water, energy, land, and labor while contributing to climate change and environmental pollution.

Together, we can build a future where food is valued, not wasted.
Reduce Food Waste. Protect Our Planet. Feed More Lives.

Every year, millions of tonnes of food are lost or wasted, squandering not only the food itself but also the water, energy, land, and labor used to produce it. This unnecessary waste contributes significantly to climate change.

📊 According to the World Bank, food loss and waste contribute approximately 13% of Bangladesh's total greenhouse gas emissions, making it one of the country's overlooked climate challenges.

Reducing food waste is one of the simplest yet most impactful actions we can take to build a more sustainable and climate-resilient Bangladesh.

FAO Food and Nutrition Division (FAO-ESN) and FAO e-learning Academy, together with the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), have just published a series of four e-learning courses on Food Free and with certification options.

Food markets are where many urban residents in low- and middle-income countries actually access their food, are key to resilience and connect urban and rural areas across territories and borders. However, they're often overlooked in nutrition and food systems work and even climate adaptation efforts. These courses bring markets to the centre of the conversation, looking at how wholesale, local and traditional markets including can be strengthened to support healthier, more accessible diets, livelihoods and equity and the governance and institutional dynamics that shape them.

The four courses:

🍅 Food markets and healthy diets in low- and middle-income countries https://lnkd.in/erU-3G-g

🍅 Food market governance: Public sector and institutional dynamics https://lnkd.in/e4aypmBQ

🍅 Strengthening wholesale markets in low- and middle-income countries https://lnkd.in/ez-VbPiN

🍅 Strengthening local and traditional markets in low- and middle-income countries https://lnkd.in/eVNY6BbD

If you work in local and city governments, nutrition, food systems - including MSMEs and smallholder farmers, urban planning or public health, we encourage you to take a look.
