“Nature is not a place to visit. It is home." — Gary Snyder. In other words, when we see nature as a home we start to care for it differently. We stand with millions worldwide in acknowledging that the Earth is a shared home, and we all have a responsibility to protect it.

Today, on World Environment Day, BRAC University Environment Club (BUEnC) joins millions around the globe in celebrating our shared home reaffirming our commitment to protecting it.

The environment is not merely the backdrop of our lives—it is the source of our existence. The air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we consume, and the ecosystems that sustain us all depend on a healthy planet. Yet climate change, pollution, deforestation, and biodiversity loss continue to threaten the future of generations to come.

This day serves as a reminder that meaningful change begins with individual actions and collective responsibility. Every tree planted, every piece of waste reduced, every sustainable choice made, and every voice raised for the planet contributes to a healthier and more resilient future

At the BRAC University Environment Club (BUEnC), our mission is to inspire a community of environmentally conscious changemakers. Whether it is tree planting or reducing plastic, we believe in the power of collective action. Let’s stand together to build a cleaner, healthier planet for present and future generations.

"On this day of ours, our first act of worship is the offering of prayer and then we will return and slaughter the sacrifice. Whoever does this concords with our Sunna; and whoever slaughtered before the prayer, then that was meat prepared earlier for his family and it would not be considered a sacrifice."- Sahih Bukhari

This day of Eid-ul-Adha reminds us of the sacrifice and devotion of Prophet Ibrahim (AS). This day profoundly highlights the values of faith, compassion, and the strength of Islamic brotherhood.

There is an important aspect of waste management on the day of Eid-ul-Adha. To preserve cleanliness and protect our environment. BRAC University Environment Club encourages everyone to be mindful and responsible in managing waste throughout the day. Let us all work together to ensure a clean and sustainable celebration.

On this very special day, BRAC University Environment Club (BUEnC) wishes everyone a very blessed Eid-ul-Adha filled with devotion, pleasure, and harmony.

A mother nurtures us, protects us, and gives us life without asking for anything in return. In many ways, our environment is no different. Nature is the mother that shelters us with her forests, feeds us through her soil, and keeps us alive with her air and water.

Yet, just as mothers deserve love and care, our environment also deserves protection and respect. This Mother’s Day, let us not only celebrate the mothers in our lives but also reflect on our responsibility toward the planet that continues to give us so much. Because caring for the environment means caring for the very source of life itself.

BRAC University Environment Club wishes everyone a warm & meaningful Mother’s Day 🌸

Happy May Day

Today is a reminder that behind every building, every road, every system we rely on-there are people whose hard work often goes unseen. May Day isn’t just a celebration, it’s recognition. Recognition of effort, resilience, and the dignity of labor.
Let’s take a moment to appreciate the workers who keep everything running, and also reflect on the importance of fair rights, safe conditions, and respect for every profession.
The world moves forward because of them.

The BRAC University Environment Club successfully hosted its orientation, Symposium 2.1: Echoes of Earth, reflecting a thoughtful blend of retro aesthetics and environmental consciousness.

The room was decorated with nostalgic elements, including vintage TVs, telephones, honeycomb structures, and an engaging photo booth bringing the theme to life.

The program also hosted a farewell ceremony for the Panel and Director Body of the 2024–2026 session, honoring their dedication and contributions to BUEnC.Guests were served food on banana leaves, embracing traditional sustainable practices, and were given seed pens as souvenirs to encourage small steps towards a greener future.

Through Echoes of Earth, the orientation highlighted the importance of reconnecting with sustainable traditions while acknowledging the impact of modern development.

On this special day, we remember and celebrate the life and legacy of Fazle Hasan Abed, the visionary founder of BRAC
On this special day, we remember and celebrate the life and legacy of Fazle Hasan Abed, the visionary founder of BRAC. His dedication to empowering communities, reducing poverty, and creating opportunities has transformed millions of lives in Bangladesh and beyond.

Beyond development, Sir Fazle Hasan Abed also believed in building a sustainable future. Through BRAC’s initiatives in climate resilience, agriculture, and community-based environmental programs, his work contributed to protecting natural resources and helping vulnerable communities adapt to environmental challenges. His vision showed us that true development must go hand in hand with caring for our planet.

His life continues to inspire us to lead with compassion, responsibility, and purpose — not only for people, but also for the environment we all share.

On the occasion of World Earth Day, 22 April 2026, from 5:00–7:00 PM (BST), a special webinar titled “Bridging Borders for the Earth: Our Power, Our Planet” was held. The event was organized by KOICA, World Friends Korea, KIDC, BRAC University Environment Club, and C3ER.

The session began with opening remarks by Ms. Roufa Khanum, Deputy Director of C3ER, BRAC University, and Ms. Chung Hyejin, Project Manager at KIDC. They spoke about the importance of World Earth Day, highlighting the urgent need for collective action to protect our environment. Their speeches encouraged participants to take responsibility, adopt sustainable habits, and work together across borders for a healthier planet.

In the joint presentation, Bangladeshi students highlighted key climate challenges like rising sea levels, flooding, air pollution, and waste issues, and their impact on daily life. They also shared government and youth-led efforts for change while the Korean presenters discussed the environmental costs of rapid development, including climate change and pollution, and shared solutions like carbon trading, urban forests, and bike-sharing.

In the personal experience sharing session, both Bangladeshi and Korean participants talked about their daily habits. They shared both good and bad practices.

At the end, there was a group discussion. Participants shared ideas and learned from each other. They created simple “action rules” for a more sustainable life.

This event showed that small actions and global teamwork can help protect our planet 🌍
