BMBSS successfully organized its 4th Seminar on “Tracking Dengue and Measles: From Detection to Public Health Action” with Dr. Noorjahan Maliha, Associate Scientist, Infectious Diseases Division, icddr,b.

The presence and active participation of our respected teachers and students made the seminar even more meaningful. Participants gained valuable insights into molecular diagnostics, genomic surveillance, disease tracking, and translating research into public health action.

The interactive session provided an engaging learning environment where participants had the opportunity to ask questions, exchange ideas, and gain a broader perspective on infectious disease research and surveillance.

We sincerely appreciate Dr. Noorjahan Maliha for sharing her knowledge, experience, and valuable insights with us. Overall, it was a meaningful and enriching learning experience for everyone involved.

Dengue and measles remain important public health concerns. To explore how these diseases are detected, monitored, and addressed, BMBSS is pleased to host a seminar featuring:

With over 17 years of experience in virology, molecular diagnostics, genomic surveillance, and infectious disease research, Dr. Mst. Noorjahan Begum will discuss modern approaches to disease detection, molecular epidemiology, and public health response.

একটি মশার কামড় নাকি একটি হাঁচি-
কোনটি শুরু করতে পারে শরীরের ভেতরে জীবাণুর সঙ্গে এক অদৃশ্য জটিল লড়াই?

দুটোই দেখতে খুব সাধারণ। কিন্তু কখনো কখনো এই ছোট্ট জিনিসই হয়ে উঠতে পারে অসুস্থতার কারণ।

ডেঙ্গু এডিস মশার কামড়ের মাধ্যমে ছড়ায় এবং শরীরে জটিল ইমিউন প্রতিক্রিয়া সৃষ্টি করতে পারে।

অন্যদিকে, মিজেলস (হাম) হাঁচি-কাশির মাধ্যমে দ্রুত ছড়িয়ে পড়ে এবং অত্যন্ত সংক্রামক হওয়ায় অল্প সময়েই অনেক মানুষকে আক্রান্ত করতে পারে।

একটি ভাইরাস শরীরে প্রবেশ করার পর গল্পটা কিন্তু সেখানেই শেষ নয়। অদৃশ্য এই জীবাণু শরীরের কোষে প্রবেশ করে, কোষের স্বাভাবিক কার্যক্রমকে কাজে লাগিয়ে নিজের সংখ্যা বাড়ায় এবং ধীরে ধীরে শরীরের প্রতিরোধব্যবস্থার সঙ্গে এক জটিল লড়াই শুরু করে। কখনো একটি সংক্রমণ তুলনামূলকভাবে সহজেই নিয়ন্ত্রণে আসে, আবার কখনো ভাইরাসের বিস্তার ও শরীরের ইমিউন প্রতিক্রিয়ার কারণে পরিস্থিতি আরও জটিল হয়ে উঠতে পারে।

ডেঙ্গু ও মিজেলস—দুটো রোগই বর্তমানে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ জনস্বাস্থ্য বিষয়। তাই এই রোগগুলোর পেছনের বিজ্ঞান জানা, গবেষণা করা এবং সঠিক সচেতনতা তৈরি করা আমাদের জন্য গুরুত্বপূর্ণ।

A Heartfelt Farewell to Our Beloved Teacher Dr. Nafsoon Rahman Ma'am🌸
On 9 September 2026, the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Jagannath University arranged a heartfelt farewell programme to bid a warm farewell to our beloved teacher, Dr. Nafsoon Rahman, Assistant Professor, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, as she embarks on a three-month JASSO Follow-up Research Fellowship at Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology (TUAT), Japan. 🇯🇵✨
For us, Ma’am has always been more than just a teacher. Her student-friendly nature, warmth, kindness, and constant encouragement have made her a truly special part of our academic journey. She has always been someone we could approach freely, learn from comfortably, and look up to with immense respect and affection.
During the farewell programme, Ma’am shared insights into her work and research journey, giving us a glimpse into her experiences and the path that has brought her to this exciting opportunity. The moment became especially emotional as she became overwhelmed with emotions while sharing her thoughts with us. It was a moment filled with gratitude, affection, and memories that we will cherish for a long time. ❤️
As she begins this new chapter in Japan, we wish her a wonderful, enriching, and successful journey. May these three months bring her new experiences, meaningful research opportunities, and countless achievements. We hope she continues to inspire us with her work and carries the love and respect of her students wherever she goes.

The Biochemistry & Molecular Biology Science Society (BMBSS), Jagannath University successfully organized its 3rd seminar on “Turning Curiosity into a Career: Research Insight & Roadmap to Higher Studies.”
We were honored to have Dr. Mohammad Sazzadul Islam, Associate Professor, Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Jagannath University, as our speaker.
The session was truly insightful and inspiring as Sir shared his research journey, experiences, findings, and valuable lessons from his academic career. He also guided us on how to develop ourselves as researchers and provided practical insights into higher studies, scholarship opportunities, and how to prepare for pursuing academic careers abroad.
His words, experiences, and guidance gave us a clearer perspective on the journey from curiosity and research interest to higher studies and a successful career. The seminar was a wonderful opportunity for students to learn, ask questions, and gain inspiration from the experience of one of our own respected faculty members.
