Shapla Community

Shapla Foundation is committed to reunite children from Bangladesh (adoptees) and Bangladeshi families with their lost children/relatives. Through the Shapla Community, we connect with each other and with those interested in our cause. After a bloody war of independence with Pakistan, Bangladesh became independent in 1972. The Netherlands belonged to one of the first countries that recognized Bangladesh as an independent country. In 1972 the leader Mujibor Rahman announced publicly that he would have mercy on the children and war orphans. After this the law ACT Abandoned and Warborn Children was accepted, with rules to allow adoption of these children abroad. Unfortunately, many children have been collected and placed into babyhomes from where they got relocated to other homes or gone for adoption abroad. Often without the parents knowing or their consent....
Names and stories in documents are often incorrect, making it very difficult to find the original family. Due to intensive fieldwork by our local networks, we can speak about good results.
