Formal Submission of the National Advocacy Proposal to Department of Social Services

Bangladesh Disabled Development Trust (BDDT), together with media partner Dhaka Times, has completed a nine-month national advocacy initiative to enhance the quality and effectiveness of district-level Disability Service Centers (Pratibandhi Shahajjo & Seba Kendro – PSOSK). The project is funded by the European Union and led in Bangladesh by Free Press Unlimited, with technical support from Article 19.

As part of the initiative, BDDT carried out a nationwide survey to identify service gaps in the centers. The findings guided eight roundtable discussions and eight strategic dialogue sessions held across all eight divisions. Representatives from the National Foundation for the Development of the Disabled Persons, NGOs, media professionals and persons with disabilities shared their perspectives and recommendations.

The survey results and consultation inputs have been combined into a comprehensive advocacy proposal aimed at improving service quality, accessibility and operational efficiency at PSOSKs across the country.

Today, BDDT formally handed over this advocacy proposal to the Director of General of the Department of Social Services. This is an important step toward stronger and more inclusive disability services in Bangladesh.
