Before reaching the milestone of The Commonwealth Foundation grant, there was listening. To advance menstrual equity, we started with awareness workshops and community empowerment. We sat with s*x workers, Bede communities, tea-garden workers and visually impaired women to understand their everyday realities, their unique experiences of stigma, poverty, inaccessible information, difficult WASH conditions and exclusion from policy conversations. We didn’t want these stories to end as conversations and so we turned these learnings into research and a policy brief. Because community experiences deserve a place in decision-making.
