The story of Bangladesh’s Liberation War of 1971 is written in blood, sacrifice, and unbreakable courage. Among those who stood fearlessly against oppression were many freedom fighters who returned with permanent disabilities — but never with broken spirits.

Some lost their limbs, some their sight, some their hearing — yet none lost their devotion to the nation. Their disabilities are not marks of weakness; they are living testimonies of bravery, resistance, and sacrifice.

As a free nation, Bangladesh’s true independence is measured not only by sovereignty, but by dignity, inclusion, and equal opportunities for its freedom fighters and all persons with disabilities. A nation that overlooks its heroes with disabilities risks forgetting the true cost of its freedom.

Bangladesh moves forward when disability is not treated as a limitation, but recognized as part of its diversity and strength. Respect, accessibility, and justice must be ensured — not as acts of charity, but as fundamental rights.
