Apex Footwear Ltd. is hiring.
Role: Executive/Assistant Manager-Material Sourcing & Development (Leather)
Department: Design Lab (Product Development)
Job Location: Kaliakoir, Gazipur.

Role Accountabilities:
- Source and develop suitable leather and other materials for footwear/SLG sampling and production.
- Ensure material selection aligns with design requirements, cost targets, and production feasibility.
- Collaborate closely with Designer, Product Management, Costing, QA, suppliers, and Production teams to ensure material consistency from development to bulk manufacturing.
- Recommend appropriate leather articles and grades based on product categories (e.g., sneakers, boots, sandals, dress shoes, etc.).
- Understand leather tanning processes to identify potential challenges in sample and bulk footwear production.
- Conduct leather grading and quality assessments and negotiate with suppliers for optimal pricing and quality.
- Manage material development processes, including swatch development and distribution to stakeholders.
- Ensure bulk production materials match approved samples in quality and specifications through effective communication with suppliers.
- Ensure all sourced materials meet lab testing requirements and take necessary actions to maintain Apex quality standards.

Qualifications that are required and preferred:
- Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Leather / Footwear Engineering or Equivalent from a Public Private or Oversees University.
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in a footwear manufacturing environment, with a strong background in leather sourcing or tannery operations. Candidates with combined experience in both footwear factories and tanneries will be given preference.

Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure productivity and achievement of daily, weekly, and monthly production targets through effective supervision and line support.
- Coordinate with IE and Planning to confirm production targets, SMV, capacity, and line loading on the previous working day.
- Ensure sewing line quality and output quantity are maintained as per SOP, buyer requirements, and AQL standards.
- Monitor line performance to achieve on-time shop order closure as per SOP (e.g., completion of 1,000 pairs within 3 days).
- Ensure First Time Pass (FTR) is achieved and control rework levels below 2% through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
-Synchronize sewing processes to ensure optimal line balancing and efficient manpower utilization.
-Identify and eliminate bottlenecks in sewing operations to improve productivity and reduce WIP.
- Ensure proper implementation of production planning, layout, and work methods for improved efficiency.
- Coordinate closely with IE, Quality, Cutting, Finishing, Maintenance, and Planning teams to ensure smooth production flow.
- Ensure compliance with safety, housekeeping (5S), and line discipline standards on the production floor.
- Monitor attendance, skill matrix, and operator performance to ensure effective manpower deployment.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, efficiency, and cost
control in sewing operations.
